Woods and Maghoma

Saw comments from Evans a few day ago saying that we can't recall Woods or Maghoma at the moment as we're using the money we've freed up from not paying their wages to bring in other players.

Woods can't be on very much, so if we can't even afford to recall him and pay his wages, does that mean we've got absolutely no leeway in the budget to bring in any more players without shipping some out? Presumably some of the money freed up went on Kelman (according to the list here - https://uk.soccerway.com/teams/england/gillingham-fc/700/transfers/ - he's the only player to have joined since Maghoma left, although Adshead joined the day before Maghoma left). Are we still paying part of his wages?

All of the above of course is hypothetical, leaving aside for one moment the mystery of the terms of the "(non-??)embargo" and whether or not it actually allows us to bring in any more players

I thought they couldn’t come back because of the terms of their loans? One till early Jan, the other late Jan with no recall.

Can’t remember anything said about the wages being an issue.,

It's possibly a combination of the two (i.e. we might not be allowed to bring them back anyway until the window re-opens), but Evans has certainly said that the fact we're using their wages elsewhere prevents any chance of bringing them back.

"Gillingham are using the money from loaning their players out elsewhere and so that’s not an option either.

Evans explained: “The other two loan players are window to window, they went out and let’s not forget they went out to free funds up to bring other players in, that is not just Gillingham Football Club, that is Peterborough, Man Utd, people are loaned out because a contribution of their wages are being used to facilitate players coming in. Christian and Henry went out and we were able to sign one or two of who we brought in.”

One of the ones signed with the Woods/Maghoma money might have been Kelman as our most recent signing, so hopefully we're not on the hook for his wages all season and whatever we were paying for him is freed up.

Paul Scally himself said we can’t get either back until January (Maghoma was the end of January too), in his last Chairman’s chat.
