Kyle Walker-Peters is the name on a lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans' lips right now and football.london asked one of the players who knows him best - Harry Winks - to explain exactly what all the fuss is about.

The young Spurs duo are with the squad in Nashville on the club's pre-season tour of the USA and on Thursday both of them joined other players such as Harry Kane in speaking to youngsters at Tennessee Soccer Club and sharing their experiences of coming through the academy at Tottenham.

While 21-year-old Winks enjoyed his breakthrough campaign last season, many are tipping 20-year-old Walker-Peters to follow in his footsteps and become the next academy star to break into the first team.

With Kyle Walker's departure to Manchester City this summer, Kieran Trippier will become Spurs' first choice right-back.

Mauricio Pochettino is seriously considering sticking with his belief in young players by bringing Walker-Peters through as his back-up - despite the young defender having not played a single minute of first team football yet.

Kyle Walker-Peters impressed as England won the U20 World Cup

Winks has played with the full-back for years in the academy and he told football.london exactly why the youngster is being considered.

"He's a top player. I've worked with him and played with him since I was 17. I know what he's about and his strengths and weaknesses," he said. "He's technically very good. He's quick, he's intelligent and reads the game well.

Q&A in full

With all eyes on the young right-back, he looked impressive in the last game of the tour against Roma in New Jersey, showing his versatility as a left wing-back - having played on the left for England as they won the U20 World Cup in South Korea this summer.

However, he had a mixed game in the opening match of Spurs' tour against PSG in Orlando. He looked a handful going forward on the right, but was caught out of position for the French side's second goal.

Harry Winks is confident that Kyle Walker-Peters can impress Mauricio Pochettino as he has

Does Winks think there's extra pressure on his team-mate to impress during this tour because of the situation at right-back and the lack of new players coming into the club?

"There's always pressure to impress and do well. I know Kyle personally. I don't think he'll let it get into his head and get nervous because of it," explained the midfielder.

"He's someone who will just take it in his stride and he will continue to improve if he keeps doing that."

Does anyone actually think he is ready to step in for Trippier next season if needed? I just can't see it.

Again, I'd greatly prefer he goes out on loan as Rose and Walker both did, and I'm told that was/is the thinking..

If he is put in as the number 2, that's a huge leap in performances he'll have to make.

I just can't see Tripp being able to live with any LWF in a game we are not dominating.

He is too flat footed and can't stand up his man. He also doesn't have the explosive pace to get himself out of trouble.

I think we need another RB to come in to compete for the first team.

Needs a loan, as does Josh and CCV - numbers mean we can't which will affect development

Trippier does seem to struggle with players with pace and dribbling ability. To be fair to him he doesn't have that much experience of playing against top players. He should improve.

Agreed we need a RB/RWB brought in but they need to be athletic, pacey, have stamina and be able to cross a ball.

As I have said before Trip isn't a wing back as he isn't a natural athlete like Walker or Rose so we need at least that option brought in. Especially playing at Wembley.

I get the feeling that had we kept Walker for another season then perhaps KWP would be able to step up, but can't help but get the impression expecting him and Trippier to do the job is a bit too much of an ask.
