Turn updates off till they sort their shit out.

Not had any problems up to date. Thanks for letting us know. I will do the same as JF

Just spoke to my lad about this. He said alot of the problem is people not maintaining their computer correctly, therefore when they try to install updates this is what is causing the damage

Not all of us though, I maintain very well but this seems to be a wider issue KK

I've not come up against any problems with my customers. I'm always cautious about stories like these due to the open nature of Windows.

No problems for me with windows 10 updates and I actually think it's OK but I never use Microsoft Edge or the Cortana facility.

Right answer!!

10 is so much better than 8 and Vista, and although 7 is still good I do prefer the newer version.

But yes, cut out Edge (no extensions - duh) and Cortana and you're good.

I've installed it on dozens of machines, having researched to ensure the device is supported beforehand, and have had zero problems. Updates have been smooth and caused no concerns.

I have had the odd machine that doesn't like Windows 10 but it is very rare and not surprising when you consider the number of different manufacturers of computer hardware and software.

There are a few that I have looked up before trying to install, and there has been no support for one or more devices. Audio seems to be the main one that manufacturers don't have Windows 10 drivers for.

That's not the fault of Microsoft. If manufacturers are too lazy to support it, what can they do?

Apart from this, it seems to be quite popular amongst my clients.

We always see these stories when a new operating system is released, usually written by journalists who don't have a clue what they're talking about.

I like the use of the word usually instead of always. Very charitable of you, Wurzel. :10: :10: :10:

I know plenty of people who have had problems with Mac updates, and had to roll back. You very rarely see these stories in the press. It's some sort of Apple love in.

I am getting more and more work from people having trouble with their iPhone and ipads.

I hate i products (apart from the ipod classics!) just purely because of how awkard the company are being re not dropping cookies, then users of those over priced rip off products get problems with adverts not being capped and we get the hassle.

There is being innovative and there is being awkward for the sake of it, that is Apple for you I think!

I know my last computer, Acer, wouldn't take the windows 10 upgrade. I've changed it now to a Dell and I think it's fine. Never been one to over worry about any of the windows versions really. I do wish they had kept internet explorer a bit less problematic though because again, they've not kept it up with the times (video etc) and many people don't know how to change browsers and again, they get problems on sites like this (and others)

iCrap as well, and TalkTalk for me. My main sources of revenue at the moment.

I do think that the more tech savvy go with Android, and those that want it simple go for Apple. That's why they need more help when things go wrong.

TalkTalk are cheap, but not when you factor in paying me to sort them out. Their DNS servers are shocking, and the routers they provide little better than junk.

Can't complain, though. Keeps me in business.

A friend went from Android to an iPhone and loves it. He tells me every time I see him something new he's found it can do, and I have to tell him his old Android phone did it as well. He seems far more interested in looking at the features because it's Apple. Their marketing is superb.

My Niece hates Internet Explorer. She's a web designer, and has so many problems ensuring sites are compatible with it. I use it only because I have a touchscreen, and Chrome stutters when you scroll. Can't believe they haven't sorted that out.

I migrated to Apple about 5 years ago, and have to say, I've never looked back.

I realise that outs me in the minority, and I am no fanboy, i just like their products, and I've never had issues with the hardware or the OS and updates.

Just saying.
