Will players be made available for transfer in January???

Cookiejar

Vital Reserves Team
This was briefly touched upon in the matchday thread but I thought it might be easier to create a new header for it.

Bonner is clearly unhappy with some, if not several, of this squad. Do we think some will be placed on the transfer list in January publicly to try and shift them out?

I hope so.

At least 8 need to go:

Hawkins (Wages)
One Goalkeeper (Wages)
Nolan (Wages plus he's rubbish)
J Williams (Wages plus he's rubbish)
Lapslie (Wages)
2 Strikers (Rubbish)
Rowe (injuries plus the little seen of him is not great)
Dieng (injuries).

I was going to say Dack but i believe his wages are heavily dependant on actually playing.

If not gone in January have the clear-out in May.

A well-paid squad for little product.

Players will definitely be available for sale or loan and other clubs will know or be notified. But I’d sooner it wasn’t blurted out publicly as happened with George, Hawk, Nads and Scott Malone(?). Just go about the transfer window and let us know who goes out and who comes in.

It will be hard tho. Unless another club is in need and willing to take them, there’s no guarantees any will leave.

Btw, I wouldn’t be as drastic as wx. Most of our players are very capable. Just need to find a formation, style and motivation to get the best out of them. 4-4-Fkn-2. Proper full backs, wingers and a front pairing left to gel.
None of this back 3/5, wing backs, inverted wingers and 1 up top. Bin it.

Obvious ones for me are Williams J, Hawkins & Lapslie. All high earners. The former is a squad player, the other two are injury prone.

Based upon his underwhelming displays, would certainly look to ship out Nolan. Permanently. Just don't rate him at all. Lazy player for me.

Whether there would be any takers is another question.

Much as we`re likely to see two or three new arrivals in January, i think your selection could be a little more constructively framed, WX.

Injuries/fitness have been an issue. But, I don`t agree that any of those you`ve labelled "rubbish" are anything of the kind. UTG

Players who have all done well elsewhere, but shit at Gilingham. Not including Dack or Morris in that comment and base my opinion on other forum members comments previously.

I was chatting to someone at the Bromley match purportedly in the know, who said something like this in that Dack had a deal of convenience with us on basically peanuts unless he plays as he earns a lot from whatever he and his missus, whoever she is, do on Social Media.

As it stands, I'd put the following on the transfer list:

Hutton
M Clark
Coleman
Nolan
J Williams
Lapslie
Dieng
Hawkins
Nevitt

And I'd send Wakeling back, if possible. I think I'm being generous on Turner and the three CBs, whose performance have all faltered in recent weeks, as well as sicknote, Rowe, who so far has shown nothing, but he deserves a chance over Christmas along with Dack and Andrews.

If we don't take a minimum of 8/9 points from the Christmas programme, I'd get rid of the manager and put all of the players on the transfer list.

Are we assuming that we can find replacement players who will improve the team / squad and who would be happy to sign for a mid table 4th division team where the fans have high expectations and little patience?

That is what occurred to me, and why starting these type of threads is pointless IMHO.

The only players we make available are those that are on high wages and not performing?

Reasonable to therefore expect that other teams, at least if they have any ambition for this season, are only looking to circulate the names of those that are on high wages and not performing for them.

The only other reason may be that a player is out of contract in the summer and their club wants a transfer fee rather than get nothing in a summer.

So by looking to rid ourselves of as many as 9 players, some of which we might have to pay off, we would be having to pay fees for their 9 replacements.

Expensive business and still no guarantees that the replacements will settle and perform.

That is why I think Walker and Hurtado, two loans, along with Hutton and an unfit Andrews were (I think) our only business last January.

January ain’t a time to do any permanent business (not much anyway) premium is too high . The club ain’t gonna be getting rid of players if no replacements !! Laps , Hawkins etc may move on next month but remember they are on a good wedge !

Lads who are not out of contract won’t be leaving for unless big offers come in . Lads that are out of contract will sit tight until the summer and let’s face it who will take any of them ?

And an fyi any lads who joined in the summer won’t be going anywhere . I see Nevitt on lists ?? Are we mad ?? He’s a keeper , fantastic attitude and well liked by MB . Build the team around him and little .

Luca - Hammond is on loan and we need 2 keepers .

Hawkins , J Williams , Laps , Ehmer , Masterson, Dieng and a few others out of contract in the summer so expect a few to go.

Rowe is on loan also .

There will be big changes in the summer .
