At this level it may help to keep the best forward options on the field untill either the game is over or the match is heading towards a comfortable win.

Would any other team take the best player off Totaly in control of that game then makes silly changes and starts playing hoof ball to Vaughan.

When they went off we where under intense pressure and conceding corner after corner.

To be fair they were starting to get on top when the subs were made. We have struggled after 65 mins in the first two, thought we made it to around 70-75 before fading today. Even without the subs possibly the outcome would of been the same. One thing that wouldn't of been the same is that Grigg would of held the ball better. Giving them less momentum and the defence a chance to rest every now and then.

2 points dropped today I feel but another terrific game to watch.....what was their penalty for and did the referee change his mind?

Not a game Morsy will want to remember - he was at fault for both goals.

I agree cracking match and we are playing our best football for years. Should have been out of sight by half time.

Referee gave us nothing and allowed Forrest to bully and intimidate right from the off and get away with numerous niggley fouls. Then, because of poor referee's decisions it lead to the trouble with Vaughan and disrupted our concentration. He then allowed himself to be intimidated by the Forrest players to give a penalty, which was very soft.

Yes should of been three or four by half time, how big was that goalie?

That was never a penalty for me either live or watching it back. Ref seemed hell bent on 'evening it up' after he gave us a pen and should've sent their man off for deliberate foul to stop goal scoring chance - he was a disgrace.

We were superb but robbed today. Again nothing to fear in this league once we iron out our mistakes and we stop having so much bad luck.

Referee was pants today and an embarassment to his profession.

Crap attendance today btw.

Around 9000 home fans isnt bad, vast majority being season card holders. We are not going to get many more home fans through the gate all season.

Another entertaining afternoon of football but very disappointed not to take all three points.

I agree with the above about the referees performance, it was absolutely atrocious. I appreciate the law has changed around red cards for penalties but I understood that if there was no genuine attempt to get the ball then it was still red if a clear goal scoring opportunity. For me that criteria was hit so given that I'm unsure why it wasn't a red - hopefully someone can correct me if my law interpretation is wrong. The fact he then faffed around after awarding it, appearing utterly clueless as to what to do, creating confusion which set the tone for the afternoon. After that he didn't seem to have a clue about what was a foul and what wasn't. The 'handbags' toward the end was as a result of this clown failing to get a grip. The Forest penalty he only made his mind up after being surrounded and hounded. It was utterly pathetic and quite frankly a disgrace to his profession to allow himself to be bullied and influenced in such a way, whether or not it was a penalty (on 1st viewing I think it was though yet to see replay). No doubt we try that on Wednesday and we'll have 3 booked. I hope the club send in the appropriate feedback about his piss poor officiating.

Robinson had a few good moments going forward but should take some fault for letting his man beat him leading up to the penalty (which I thought was the right call after rewinding my live stream and watching again). 2nd half was a bit disappointing overall. We never seemed all that close to a 3rd goal.

We were the best team by miles today, soft first goal, ball given away by morsy, and soft pen, its a hard league, we need to be more smarter and see games out very entertaining though.

Another cracking game that should have been over as a contest by half time such was our dominance.

I don't know what the referee had in his tea at the break, but he was a complete loony in the 2nd half. Some of his decisions baffled us.

Errors by us yet again gifted forest a point which they didn't deserve. They are poor considering the money they've spent.

Watched it again and again...never a penalty...but we should have been home and dry by then.

Referee was truely appalling again today. Ignoring his piss poor management of the game, having seen the highlights it is definite red for our penalty. Having given the foul I fail to see how this decision wasn't reached. As for the Forest penalty my initial reaction it was and so whilst it maybe correct he was going to give a yellow for a dive until allowing himself to be intimidated by a throng of Forest players into changing his mind. What an absolute disgrace of a referee.

Never a penalty into memory of man.

Watched a steward get floored over in the North West corner of the Stadium. I hope he is ok after that unwanted experience. It looked like a punch to the head but I was over on the opposite corner of the stadium. Easy to spot though .... a big bloke in a black t-shirt and shorts, his wife in pink / salmon t-shirt and shorts plus two children were "escorted" out of the stadium by police and stewards.
Gawd knows what went on to merit that incident.

A game plan that takes the game to the opposition, right from the get go. Superb stuff. Forest reverted to hoof ball .... urgh.

Our penalty, if he is to deem it a penalty (which it of course was) would have to warrant a red card being shown. Not only was it a professional foul by the Forrest defender but a deliberate attempt to unfairly prevent an obvious goal scoring opportunity. As someone who as officiated football matches in the past, the one rule I would say is gospel is if you make a decision you must follow up with it's consequences. You cannot award a penalty like that without brandishing a red. You can not "half arse" the decision. This worked in our favour may I mention as Evans (if I remember correctly) elbowed one of the Forrest players and a free kick was awarded. Though I am glad all 11 Wigan players stayed on the pitch, the referee must realise that if he is to penalise a player for what he believes to be an elbow he must give the due punishment, and this sort of behaviour happened time and time again.

As for the Forrest penalty, how a individual in such a position would lack such confidence in his own ability to be so simply swayed by the persuasion of a set of players harassing him is most upsetting. I do not believe that their penalty was stone wall, however Sam was silly to attempt such a challenge as it only opens doors for these situations. Nevertheless, our former hero Watson channeled his inner Billy Bremner along with the rest of the Forrest players thinking they were Don Revie's Leeds and chose to scream at the ref until the eventually got what they wanted. One can only assume that if our lads had done the same that a infinite loop of changed decisions would have ensued, making for most entertaining viewing.

2-2 I feel is two points lost after today, but we march on.

If that Forrest team is the same one that some predict to have an outside shot of play offs (which I can't see from today really) we are in for good shot this season. Sort out the mistakes and get a be more wise with certain decisions and games like that will be ours all day.

Thought Ben Watson's behaviour was a disgrace, you accept there is absolutely no loyalty in football and i expected no favours but he was leading the harassment of the referee trying to deliberately con him at every turn his histrionics were embarrassing. He wasnt the only one trying to bully the ref but he was by far the most forceful and you know he didn't used to be like that. You know every team appeals for everything including ourselves but Forest were so cynically over the top it was Oscar worthy play acting - but it worked so maybe we need to stop respecting referee and get every outfield player surround the ref, get in his face and hysterically scream at him until we eventually get our way.

I don't buy into this I'm afraid. He plays for Forest now and that's where his loyalty rightly is. Personally I thought it was a penalty and don't see why the ref was confused in the first instance. On second viewing, he maybe didn't get the touch, but still very naive to put a foot in like that when he had no hope of reaching the ball. As for surrounding the ref, we were accused of that many times last season and I thought the same then - it happens in football and not one team is innocent of it. You'll always view it as justified depending on your agenda.

Ultimately the performance was pleasing, the ref disappointing, the result could and possibly should have been better, but it's yet another game I'm coming away from feeling happy and entertained. I'm finding football is not making or breaking my weekend and I love it.

You are right, he does have loyalty to Forest now, but after the reception our fans gave him at various times during the game it was disrespectful of him to lead the referee harassment like he did.
He has definately gone down in my estimation and I for one will not be clapping him again when we next play Forest or whichever team he plays for. Shame on you BW.

I know its easier watching highlights and a referee has to make a quick decision but Forest had the penalty awarded yesterday which was only given after the ref had been confronted by a group of screaming Forest players. This influenced his decision and changed a quick decision into a decision that was arrived at by the action of the Forest players. Its called cheating and personally it wasnt even a foul as Sam played the ball.

Secondly how did the Forest player not recieve a straight red card when he gave away our penalty. He took out the last man but also denied us a perfect goal scoring oppurtunity. Its called cheating and that referee cheated us out of three points. Disgusting but we have been there before many times. Still a disgrace.

All pretty fair comments and they have every right to feel robbed.

Don't suppose anyone has heard anything about the steward who had a fit during the second half? He looked in a terrible way and the response of the other stewards was pathetic. Hope the guys is OK.

they have let in an average of 2 goals a game in their last 3- not L1

had plenty of opportunity to win the game early on but squandered them- you will get punished for that and they were. Not exactly robbed. we played poorly but not a lot extra would have brought another goal for us.

Am I correct in the reading of the new rules re "double Jeopardy". If a foul is committed and is in the penalty area, a penalty is given and as long as it is not dangerous play a yellow. If it is outside the penalty area, last man and a goal is likely to be scored, a free kick and a red card. Thus a team do not get both a red and a penalty unless of course it is a second yellow card or is deemed dangerous play?

Thanks for that CP. I had a feeling we would nick a point but can’t argue that we should have been wearing masks after that performance.

Can’t say I am enjoying the niggly stuff either but had the ref come to the right decision in the first place...

Are the niggles signs of frustration? Players expecting too much, trying too hard and therefore underperforming?
The players know this is a very strong squad. We know it as well. Perhaps they aren't too happy with the system? Or the lack of consistency?

I don't know but they do need time to gel.
They need our support, not criticism. 13 new players and we finished 17th last season.
They need time to gel, we need to support them and AK.
AK does need to sort out his best team and look at the players he has. Are we really a 4231 side??

We have to play to our strengths which are two/ three attacking fullbacks with three lungs apiece. Two very different players who are very exciting playing behind a striker. We have to diminish our weaknesses which are fullbacks who can't defend especially in the air. Lack of an enforcer so have to rely on two defensive minded midfield players. a defence who can't defend, especially in first five minutes. A defence who are poor in the air and at set pieces.

Answer three at the back, attacking wingback playing wide. Both Sounami and Carvalho behind a striker. Mind you having said all this I don't think we need three at the back against Brum so will stick with two but push Oz and Byram right up, unless of course Geddy is injured where we will need Oz in midfield. Watson and Colback is too negative.

Fair comments reference they should have been out of sight by half time as the general consensus is that they could have been five or six one up by then but the referee definitely got a lot of decisions wrong Gueddy was forearm smashed practically unconscious for only a foul . Everyone is going on about the players surrounding a referee but that alone wouldn't change his mind more likely the assistant or 4th official seeing something and contacting him via the earpiece to award the spot kick.
We played very badly first half but stuck in to the end and grabbed a point. These are things that we wouldn't have done last year. Onwards and upwards.
