Wigan Athletic Vs Aston Villa Sat 12th Jan 3pm

Yes that was utter bollocks, but if we're talking about sacking Smith already, I give up.

Come on, everything about this stinks. Smith has had an absolute shocker since the Albion game.

To think he didn’t bring Davis on today and chose Whelan.

That 45 minute second half was massive, this next game is bigger still, not the result but who he picks, the set up and what he does in the game.

It's a sad indictment of Smith tho that 2 players out takes us from potential top 2 to possibly fighting relegation.

This sounds great, but our youth system isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. One truly successful player has emerged from our academy set up in 20 years and that’s Gary Cahill. I don’t count Albrighton (one fluke trophy) or super jack (yet).
No Gabby?

A little piggy just told me that our new Hause is made of straw.

It’s very tough for a defender or goalie to come into a team with a bad defence, especially during a game we’re already losing. I didn’t see much from him but it was horrendous circumstances.

In fairness, I slated Kalinic last week but was a lot better today despite the score line

Another humiliation. Almost like the squad just decided that without Jack and Axel they might as well just give up. We've too many players who are only able to turn things on in little spurts. Bolasie is the perfect example. I'd take someone with half his talent if they could show some consistency. El ghazi, Adomah and Kodjia all similar stories.

Midfield is too slow as was proven vs Leeds. In this league and modern football in general you need pace and energy and only mcginn fits the bill. Defence, well everyone knows the state we're in there. Chester good but apparently playing through injury and the rest just hopeless.

As for Smith. He's been dealt a bad hand. I still think with Jack fit we'd have won a few extra games but we can't just be relying on one player. Unfortunately that mentality where we've relied solely on one or two "star" players has prevailed here for a decade or so but its not done us any good. Unfortunately I don't think anyone could turn this mob into a coherent unit, but as melon mentioned earlier most of them were brought in on the bsus that they could have a few magic moments in a game and nothing else. Personally I'd give him the summer to try and build something.

We all know our defense is shit so when he came in Smith went all out attack.
The defense is still shit yet he's dumped this tactic and got them to sit back. Then we are losing and he makes defensive substitutes.

Absolutely useless display both on the pitch and from the manager and his coaching staff.

The only videos Smith must be showing them during the week have to be porno ones because the players look knackered and disinterested after only 15 minutes in each game.

All-around very worrying as the pressure mounts on Smith and the criticism is justified with some bizarre player selections and more worrying, unable to motivate these lazy gits.

Not happy at all with Smith for today, those subs were ridiculous BUT he's our manager, he has to have at least 2 transfer windows. He started so well, that makes this more gutting, but he has to have time to get rid of some of these woefully underachieving players.

Today wasn’t a defence problem.
Today was a problem with the front 5
Not one of them Mcginn aside can say that was a performance i am proud of.
El Ghazi and Bolaise need to be dropped.
Bjarsnasson should just leave and Hourihainne needs to play up with Mcginn and really try and play the passes needed.

Saying that the sub of Hausa for Elphick was one of the most baffling i’ve seen.
Elphick must be fuming.

I’ve seen some terrible full backs down there over the years, and sadly only a handful of very good ones.

Those two today must be THE worst pairing we’ve ever had to endure, and I’m including some of the trundling converted centre halves who occasionally filled in. Lots to criticise but Bree and Taylor really are woeful.

What's Terry added since he came - defence gets shitter week by week ?
Nope, defence has been shit since the start of the season. Thank you, Steve.

DS shifted Alex to CB, and the improvement was noticeable. Not terrific, but more stable, more confident. With Alex's injury we've regressed a bit. Difficult to know why; I'd have thought Bree, Elphick, Chester and Taylor ought to put up a reasonable show. Or is it that the midfield in front of them is crap?
