Marshall brings a wealth of top flight club and international experince with him, having regained the no. 1 jersey for Scotland recently.

Kirby - born Jones started his youth career at Everton, before joining Leyton Orient, where he made 151 appearances, before a number of loan spells with Coventry City, Rochdale, Colchester United and Stevenage, where he finally ended his association with the O's. Jones Joined Wigan Athletic in 2017 and renewed his terms with the club after signing an initial one year deal.

29. Daniel Gyollai, Hungary. 22; 6ft5
Arriving on a free transfer from Stoke City, Gyollai has yet to feature in a senior professional fixture, but spent time on loan at non-league Nantwich in 2015/2016 and again in the second half of the 2016/2017 season. Has plenty of U23 experience with Stoke City, having amassed 42 appearances for Stoke's U23 squad.

Defenders

2. Nathan Byrne, England; D/WB/AMR; 27; 5ft10
Attack-minded Byrne signed for the club from Wolves in 2016 on a three year contract, for an undisclosed fee. In 2017, Byrne was loaned to Charlton Athletic, but returned to the Latics and became a key member of the League One winning side in 2017-18. Byrne is a quick, versatile full-back who has been used as a wing-back and a right winger during his career.

15. Dujon Sterling, England; D/WB/MR; 19; 5ft11; Loan from Chelsea.
Islington-born Sterling arrives on a season-long loan from Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Coventry City, where his explosive pace and crossing ability caught the eye. Sterling has yet to feature for Chelsea's first team, however the coaching staff at his parent club hold him in high regard. Sterling will be looking to build on his good form for Coventry in League Oe last season where he played as a wing-back, however he has played quite a number of matches for Chelsea's youth teams as a winger.

6. Danny Fox, Scotland; DLC; 33; 6ft0
Wigan Athletic is journeyman defender Danny Fox's 10th club, having signed from Nottingham Forest in January. The predominantly left-footed Fox has captained the majority of the clubs he has played for and is known for his professional attitude and attention to detail. The ball-playing defender has been used as a left-back and as a holding midfield player duuring his career, but is most comfortable at centre-back, covering for his defensive partner.

21. Cedric Kipre, Cote d'Ivoire; DC; 22; 6ft3
Kipre began his career with Leicester City, before moving on loan to Corby Town. Kipre signed for the Latics from Motherwell in a £1m move in 2018, on a three-year contract, making his league debut the very next day in a 3-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Kipre has yet to fully establish himself as the first-choice centre back, but his timing in the challenge, good athleticism and team ethic have made him a decent choice. Kopre has been included in training squads for his native Cote d'Ivoire.

22. Cheyenne Dunkley, England; DC; 27; 6ft2
Chey Dunkley arrived from Oxford United at the expiration of his contract in 2017 and quickly slotted into the centre-back position, getting up the other end to score a number of important goals in the League One winning campaign. Dunkley made the step up to the Championship and has yet to find his feet, however the club is hopeful that the powerful defender can recreate his form from a couple of seasons ago. Dunkley has been invited to play for Jamaica, for whom he qualifies to play for. Good in the air and a decent one-vs-one stopper, Dunkley looks to build on that foundation and develop other aspects of his game.

Charlie Mulgrew, Scotland; DLC/DM; 6ft3, Loan from Blackburn Rovers
Mulgrew arrived just in time to be officially registered as a wigan Athletic player, coming in from Blackburn Rovers. Wigan Athletic is his 7th club, having had two spells with Celtic. A veteran of close to 350 league matches, Mulgrew is known for his comfort on the ball, set-piece delivery and leadership qualities, having been deployed as an anchor man in front of the back four during his career.

Tom Pearce, England; D/WBL; 21; 6ft1
Arriving from Leeds United, Pearce has a growing reputation in English football and could be seen as something of a transfer coup, with Leeds United fans having had hifgh hope for the U21 international. Born in Ormskirk, Pearce signed for Leeds as a youth player from Everton, where he played alongside fellow Latics players Joe Williams and Antonee Robinson. Pearce is a regular in the England U21 Squad and is held in high regard by the set up at the FA. A solid and forward thinking player, Pearce will compete for his place with Antonee Robinson.

3. Antonee Robinson, USA; D/WB/ML; 21; 6ft0
USA international left-back Robinson was signed from Everton after a successful season-long loan in 2018/19. Robinson spent a portion of last season nursing an ankle injury but returned to action, quickly re-establishing himself in the side. His pace and marauding forward runs have been tempered somewhat with greater sense of his defensive duties, but Robinson reamins a dangerous outlet on the left side of defense or further forwards on occasion.

Midfielders

4. Lewis Macleod, Scotland; DM/MC/AMC; 25; 5ft10
Signed on a free transfer from Brentford, Macleod is known for his creativity in the heart of midfield and his range of passing. Macleod's career has been curtailed somewhat by some serious injuries, however his work rate and desire to do a job for the team may be invaluable this season. Macleod played for Rangers at the same time as Kal Naismith and Josh Windass.

5. Sam Morsy, Egypt; DM/MC; 27; 5ft9
Club captain Sam Morsy started his career at Port Vale and goes into his fourth season as a Latics player, interspersed with a loan deal at Barnsley.A current Egypt international, Morsy was called up by Hector Cuper for the 2018 World Cup, making a substitute appearance in the match against Uruguay. Somewhat of an unsung hero during his time, Morsy has began to win plaudits for his ability to read the play, intercepting passes and driving the team forwards. Morsy also has a knack of weighing in with important goals.

8. Lee Evans, Wales; DM/MC; 25, 6ft1
In his second spell with the Latics after joining permanently from Sheffield Utd, Evans is adeep-lying playmaker with an eye for goal. Evans has gone on to represent his country 4 times, however he his very often named as an unused member of the Welsh National Team. Evans has yet to discover his true form and fulfill his potential, but seems to be growing into his role as an outlet for the team in the heart of central midfield.

20. Joe Williams, England; DM/MC; 22; 5ft10
Liverpool-born Joe Williams is a player with a growing reputation in English football, having signed form Everton after two loans spells at Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers, where he was considered to be their best player, in an otherwise unsuccessful season. Williams is ostensibly a box-to-box midfielder who doesnt mind getting stuck into the physical side of the game. Williams has represented England U20's twice.

39. Jensen Weir, England; MC; 17, 6ft1
Young prospect Weir became Wigan's youngest ever player, aged 15 years and 280 days, in an EFL Trophy game. Since then, Weir has seen action from the substitutes' bench at the tail end of the 2018/19 season. A rangy, box-to-box midfielder, Weir has stated his intention to work hard and feature more in the senior side this season.

18. Gary Roberts, England; AM(RLC); 35; 5ft10
Roberts now finds himself as the elder statesman of the Latics squad, being the oldest player at 35 years of age. Having played in both Wales and England, Roberts brings a lot of experience and a certain level of know-how, as well as being a popular member of the playing squad. Roberts managed some important goals during his career, most notbaly against Blackburn Rovers last season. As an advanced playmaker, Roberts works hard for the team and looks to create space for himself and others.

11. Gavin Massey, England; AM(RL); 26; 5ft8
Watford-born Masssey was signed from Leyton Orient in what seemed at the time to be an odd signing, he has since grown in stature with the club. His dynamic performances have won many fans over, with Massey able to play as an out-and-out winger on the right, or as an inside forward on the left. Massey signed an extended deal with the club in the summer and looks set to be part of the club for the forseeable future.

7. Anthony Pilkington, Republic of Ireland; AM(RLC); 31; 6ft0
Signed from Cardiff City, Pilkington began his senior career down the road with Atherton Colleries, after being released by Blackburn Rovers. Pilkington has won 9 caps for Ireland. A creative attacking midfielder, who is comfortable on both wings, he brings a wealth of Championship experience with him. Was signed in January 2019 on an 18-month deal.

17. Michael Jacobs, England, AM(RLC); 27; 5ft9
"Crackers" began his career at Northampton Town and gained a reputation for being an exciting attacking midfielder. Jacobs has over 250 appearances and is used mostly as a left winger, although he can play across the attacking midfield areas. One of our longest-serving squad members, having been with the club since July 2015, Jacobs has had inconsistent form at this level and will be looking to have a good campaign in what could be a pivotal point in his career.

33. Kal Naismith, Scotland; AM(LC), WBL; 27; 6ft4
Rangers youth product Naismith followed Paul Cook to the club from Portsmouth on the expiration of his contract with Pompey. He has since been used in a number of positons for the club; on the right of midfield, as a striker and most notably as a left wing-back. Naismith's willigness to work hard for the team and to lpay wherever he is selected brings versatility to the squad.

Forwards

10. Josh Windass, England; AMC/ST; 25; 5ft9
Josh Windass Arrived for a reported £2.5m from Rangers in the summer fo 2018 and found the transition from Scotland to the Championship tough, however Windass managed to score some crucial goals on Wigan's successful bid to avoid relegation. Windass can play on either wing and has been used as such, however, he has openly stated his desire to play in a central role, where as a 2nd striker behind a main frontman, Windass is effective, with his surging pace and willigness to run into the channels. A very hard-working player, Windass seems to have settled into his game, as he looks to make the next step in his career.

9. Jamal Lowe, England; AMRL/ST; 25; 6ft
Pacy hitman Jamal Lowe is player with a growing reputation in English football, having had his standout season for Portsmouth last term, scoring 15 league goals. Lowe is able to play comfortably on both wings, or as a cretal striker, off the shoulder of the last defender. He hasn't played at this level yet, however Lowe has been coveted by several clubs over the course of his career.

24. Callum Lang, England; AMR/ST; 20; 5ft11
Young prospect Lang has progressed through the youth ranks since arriving from Liverpool in 2013. Lang has spent two seasons on loan with Morecambe and Oldham Athletic, where he won praise from their fanbase. Lang is predominantly a winger who can play up front, or as a 2nd striker.

38. Joe Gelhardt, England; AMRL/ST; 17; 5ft10
Exciting prospect Joe Gelhardt mad his professional debut prior to signing his first full-time deal in August 2018. Since then, Gelhardt has featured for England's U17'S regularly. Gelhardt, like Weir, is looking to make more first team appearances and has been named on the subs' bench on a few occasions.

Bright Enobakhare, Nigeria; AMC/ST; 21; 5ft10; Loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers
Enobakhare arrives on loan from Wolves, where he agreed a new contract before signing on loan. Enobakhare spent the second half of the season on loan at Coventry City and such was his impact for the Sky Blues, he managed to win Young Player of the Seaon for Coventry. A quick player who is not afrtaid to shoot from distance, he is highly regarded by the Wolves coaching staff.

14. Joe Garner, England; ST; 31; 5ft10
Pessing forward Joe Garner joined from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee last season, making 33 appearances and scroing 8 times in the league. The hard-working pressing forward looks to break down the opposition defence by constantly defending from the front line and working in the space between the centre-backs. Garner represented England at youth level up to U19's and adds a combatative element to the Latics' forward line, as well as plenty of experience.

27. Kieffer Moore, Wales; ST; 27; 6ft5.5
Target-man Moore signed from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, on a three-year contract. He earned his first international call-up to Wales in May 2019, for a training camp squad. Moore is known for his height and heading ability, but has quick feet, works the channels a lot and scores goals other players considered more technically sound would be proud of.

Ok, sorry I didn't realise that. I guess if I'd known I'd have looked at where is had come from. I assumed it was a night's worth of hard diligent work. All the same, as you say - usefully informative.
