I quite like being in the minority, Moonay - doesn't make me wrong, which seems to be what you are trying to prove. I like discussion, but you have a habit of turning discussion into argument - argument, that is, where you are always right.
As far as I'm concerned there is no right or wrong in this matter. I felt "joy" at the way the team played, you obviously had different feelings, no argument.
Others also felt the same as I did and maybe some felt relieved, we all have different feelings. You cannot tell me how I feel or indeed how others feel the same way thatI cannot tell you how you feel.
No one is trying to say that the joy felt will last the whole season or indeed beyond the next match. So in my opinion, and I am sure you will have your own, the facts are that it would be impossible to prove either way who is right or wrong because a feeling is something personal and we can all feel differently in the same situation.
Personally I think your statement that Moonay is always right is provocative and a little churlish towards another poster who does nothing more than express his own opinion, and to my knowledge has never professed that he is right in any discussion he contributes to.
Brick, tell your friend to read posts 48 & 60, where Notts tries to tell everyone that the game/win wasn't a joy.
He wasn't particularly telling posters what they should feel........ just that they were wrong when they stated what they were feeling.
Happy to help.
Can't beat a bit of provocation, TB, to stimulate debate.
Brick mate, you possibly see this in a different light to me, but I read this as Moonay expressing his own joy and feelings and not in any way forcing his belief on the rest of us. That's my view, you and others may differ. This is what was sed at post 37 by notts.
"Early days, yet. Can they produce the goods on a long term basis? That's the question. "
This is (part) of what moonay sed at post 38.
"Yesterday was a joy.......and an unexpected one at that. "
so who was teling who what to feel. in your vewe.
asking for a friend
It was good that Brick was trying to do a little stirring, as it backfired, and proved the point re "feelings" quite nicely.
However, knowing when to put down a shovel is summat in which Notts is less proficient.
?
I wasn't Chet ....... and I'm not.
Brick, the "innocuous statement" made by Notts had a response from me in the very first sentence of my post that followed.
You're completely correct that it was me who brought up the subject of "joy" ............... I've never said it wasn't .............. it's just that it was Notts who maintained that I (& others) couldn't have been feeling joy - as there wasn't enough at stake - and instead, it was more likely to be "relief".
No shuffling. None at all. Not even a spin. Straight bat to everything. No subject change.
As for the "backfired" bit, of course it did .......... it blew right up in your face. You asked TB who was telling who what to feel ............ and so I told you the post nos (2 of them) where Notts was trying to say that all those who claimed to have thought it was a joy were mistaken.
I've already clarified the point about asking if Notts attended ........ and I think that the answer goes a long way to understanding his position (in comparison to the feelings of those who did)................. but no-one was telling him how he should have felt........... just how we did.
Finally, re your reference to a country mile ................ I didn't miss it ...... I just didn't have a clue what you were on about.
If you think that me putting you right on a couple of points equates to you being "attacked", then I look forward to your response. I'm not really sure what you'd gain by it though.
good luck to you tb. your a top lad - wuld of loved to have seen how you kept the net back in the day.
my last word on this. unless im atacked agen.
I'm starting to wish we'd played crap and lost. All this garbage because people dared to be chuffed to see a good performance result and match.
If you played in any of the leagues around Wigan in the seventies you may well have come across me.....
