Latics were in early pre-season action again on Saturday afternoon in a fitness match against Blackpool at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre, with 22 first team squad members featuring for 45 minutes each, as they did on Wednesday against Crewe Alexandra.

Nick Powell and James Vaughan both scored goals as Paul Cook's men drew 2-2 with the Tangerines.

Latics' behind-closed-doors friendlies follow two weeks of work back at the Training Centre, as well as a number of sessions at Jennings Gym and XFit Chorley as the players continue to prepare for the 2018-19 Sky Bet Championship season.

Pre-season fixtures begin on Saturday 14 July with a trip to Prenton Park to face Tranmere Rovers, before a Latics XI travel to Chesterfield's Proact Stadium to take part in goalkeeper Tommy Lee's testimonial. A trip north of the border to Ibrox Stadium will see Latics play their final warm up fixture against Steven Gerrard's Rangers FC on Sunday 29 July ahead of the first game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday at the DW Stadium on Saturday 4 August.
