Why Have The Wolves Fans Become Obsessed With Villa?

Why have the Wolves fans become as obsessed as the Baggies with the Villa? I couldn't really give a care in the world about either!

Coz we're local rivals who are both battling it out for the same objective.

Don't really see the problem with a bit of local rivalry personally.

Give their moment in the sun!

I agree, it's pretty small-time, but typical of the lesser clubs in the Midlands - Coventry fans used to behave the same way during their golden age of finishing 17th or 18th in the top flight every year. Baggies have more claim as they are our nearest geographical neighbour, and the Noses just hate everyone as far as I can tell.

Wolves only crowing like this because they are top of the League at the moment. Don't remember all this nonsense last season when they were battling relegation.

My old man is a Dingle, and personally, I would be very happy if we occupied the top two places come the end of the season.

Lets not forget how we behaved when we beat WBA in the cup quater final.

We're all as bad as each other so lets forget the moral high ground, accept local rivalry exists and it intensifies when 2 teams are competitively close together in the league.

But also, when they were battling relegation, I don't remember any of us giving a stuff?

It's odd I tells ya!

But if we were battling relegation at the same time, the rivalry would have intensified. It's just normal.

The Cup game v Albion certainly had an element of that, but I felt it was much more about relief from a disastrous season, and the feel good factor that Tim Sherwood brought in at that moment.

The reaction/atmosphere might have been similar whoever we'd played, but was heightened by us having beat them a few days previously with that last-minute penalty.

I'm not saying we have any moral high round, but there is no question we are by far the biggest, best supported and most successful team in the Midlands and it's only to be expected that the rest will shout louder when they have some kind of advantage over us.

Thats kind of my point. There's nothing unusual about it, and it's to be expected.

They have never seen football like it at Wolves so they are having their moment now.

Their fans on WM have been cock a hoop to a point where they are saying they will be in the champions league in 3 years and that someone called Connor Cody is as good as Beckenbauer. (I kid you not).

We are the biggest club in the region so I suppose it's only natural that they are gloating at us I suppose.

They had a clear idea of the sort of players and sort of manager they wanted, and went out and got them. It worked. Don't begrudge them that. We went a different route. Which will be the more successful in the long term only time will tell.

They are heavily reliant on Mendes and the suspicion remains that he is just using them as a way of getting his players a profile in this country before they move on to better things.

The same with the manager as well.

I seem t remember during our 7 win streak a few Villa fans on social media outlets saying we are coming for you etc so watch out, therefore, it's bound to get a response.

We are local rivals going for the same result and they are winning it hands down so I'd expect them to gloat and give it back to Villa fans.

Personally, the Dingles don't bother me (unlike the filth across town) and after being in the doldrums for so long they are thoroughly enjoying this successful period so let them enjoy it while it lasts.

Best of luck to the Wolves on the run in. They are the standout team in this seasons Championship for what it is worth,
If you look at last season Newcastle and Brighton walked away with it, and Huddersfield got in via the play offs.
There is only one point between the three of them now and only one bad result away from dropping into the relegation places for all three of them.
As others have said we are the natural target for all the local sides supporters due to our history and dominance over the years.
If we were in the fourth division we would still be number one target, its just the way it is.
UTV.

It's not normal to be top of the league and obsessing about us Deano. They are all in our shadows :3:

Their set up is built on sand anyway, be fascinating to see if that sort of set up is allowed to continue.

Wolves can enjoy it and the cash windfall from promotion will soften the fallout when they lose mendes stable players.

Because we are the biggest side in the midlands we will always attract envy and resentment from the smaller clubs around us.
That I don't mind , in fact it should help galvanise and motivate us

Interesting, I did say the other week they are building on sand

There's something very dodgy going on at the custard bowl.

Investgating the dogheads won't dig up anything but investigating incoming revenue at the loaning clubs may.

It could be the parent company paying some of the players wages hiding the true cost.

Wolves are on their worst run of the season (No win in 3, not bad but still).

This is odd timing, why only now are other clubs asking about them?
