Why Don't Manchester City Sell Out The Etihad?

With Manchester City struggling to sell out their Champions League game last week, and with attendances failing to completely fill out the stadium for Premier League matches, the Social Club boys are asking "why don't City sell out the Etihad?"

Before we get to their video discussion let’s take a look at a few facts.

A comment was made via the front page comments section. My reply was....

I've re-checked and the capacity is 55,097 on match days. If there is sufficient demand, the club may add a third tier to the North Stand as well, which will raise capacity to an approximate 61,000 seats. Many thanks for bringing it to my attention daveniki. I do apologise.

See, even i'm not perfect :002: :010:

The costs of attending a football match these days are enormous especially if you live any distance from the ground and you have children.

The number attending the last League Champions game was disappointing but understandable bearing in mind that the game had been postponed 24 hours previously and that not everyone who attended on the Tuesday could do so on the Wednesday, but in any event the Club would not have sold all the tickets, where fans prefer to attend the premier games and cannot afford two games on the trot.

It's more or less a sell out every game in the Premier League. The reasons for non attendance in CL are well documented.

The details in the front page article are incorrect and I believe that they should be amended - those 'outside the know' will not bother to read the comments/debate where the correct figure emerges so we will only be contributing to an erroneous myth.
