Well, the players are also very much to blame. With the amount of money the owners have spent and the level of talent that Manchester City has at their disposal, Tim Sherwood should be able to coach them to wins.

I would love to hear the members thoughts on this article, because if that was the case the richest Club so they tell us is at Old Toilet, so why have they not won it, having spent loads of money over the last 2 seasons.
 
I can go to Waitrose* and spend a fortune on food - unfortunately when I get home I realise I have bought the wrong ingredients to make a meal.

Alternatively I can go to Iceland* and buy cheaper stuff - however when i get home I have the right ingredients to prepare a delicious and nutritious meal.

You don't have to follow a recipe but sometimes it can help.

I don't think the announcement made much of a difference, after the first 5 games of the season until the announcement we got just 29 points from a possible 54, the decline in league form was well under way at that stage.

Injuries also have to be factored in as the squad was threadbare at times and pushed to its limits especially because of the two cup runs.
 
The announcement was the latest easy 'factor' for the media pundits to latch onto. Before that it was the absence of Vincent Kompany. The club tempted to stave off the inevitable speculation over Pellegrini's position by extending his contract for 12 months. Everyone knew that this was only a sticking plaster and they were between a rock and a hard place - do what they did or allow every second question at the press conferences to be about Guardiola speculation. No win situation.

It may have been a factor along with our chronic injury record and the significance of so many affecting our defence. Couple with this injuries to Aguero and Silva, a substantial loss of form from Toure and Sterling's confidence and ebullient play being eaten away by a combination of pressure change in the way he was expected to play. Some players were not at the races (Kolarov for example) and there were mistakes (rags at home).
 
In order of importance I would speculate injuries 80%, tactics 10%, the Pep announcement 10%. As the key reasons for our underwhelming season.
