Whitfield to sign?

According to sources at Port Vale, both them and us have made end of contract offers to Ben Whitfield.
He'll be hard working under the Cowleys, which is where Aspin feels he's best, and is creative which we require. He's versatile, he could play as Whitehouse does for us or on the wing which may be similar to how DC wanted Pett to be?
However, he's not playing for Vale at the moment because they feel his head isn't in the right place. He apparently has a quite big ego and wanted to be the star of the team.
This is of course all just speculation at the moment but thoughts?
 
I think the Cowleys may be happy to take on a project. But I worry about a player that is not playing owing to attitude. Plus, we have good options in midfield as it is.
 
Stewart, Whitehouse, Williams and Rowe all set to leave at the moment through contract or loan expiring. (Of course I've heard we're sorting a Rowe deal out and I reckon will try to keep Whitehouse).
But I agree that an ego doesn't seem like a Cowley player. Especially as the team won't be built around him at SB like he wanted Vale to do
 
Appreciating how unreliable it can be but wikepedia has him listed as joining us. He is on loan at Vale from Bournemouth, who we seem to have a nice link with so I wouldn't be shocked if this is a goer. 22 years old with about 100 games to his name and averaging about a goal in ten so that aspect would need improving if he came on board.

Can't comment upon attitude but if anyone rocked up with a big one it would either be quickly quelled or door shown under our top team. Assuming on a free so probably worth a punt
 
Given the type of squad we have, you'd hope they would quickly change to what we have here.

If at Vale they have a few like that, it's probably easier to go that way than here.

You think of the senior players we've got here - Eardley and Freck spent most of their careers in the Championship, Bostwick and Rhead. I mean, I'd not get on the wrong side of the latter two!
 
I wonder whether we will make a move for Lyle Taylor in the summer? Surely he will be on Danny’s radar after their previous spell together. I am at the Donny-Wimbledon game tomorrow night so will be able to see what he is all about.

He looked very useful in the FA Cup match earlier in the season before picking up an injury.
 
Re. Whitfield, if the Cowleys think that he significantly improves us then that will do me. Left footer isn't he?
