When is a foul not a foul......

....when it’s in the penalty area.

Just quickly scanned through the game. Just after there second goal Eardley goes for a header behind their player, heads the back of his head. Referee gives free kick. Exeter player does the same to Rheady....... The rest is history.

You missed Luke's blatant handball in our penalty area?

Yeah, if we're going to blame the officials we need to accept they also missed a stonewall penalty for Exeter in the first half. We would have been dead and buried had they scored that.

The Rhead one, I'm sure we would have been spitting feathers had it been at the other end and given against us, probably the same for them with the Waterfall hand.

You see this across the board in football. Does make you wonder if the FA have issued some form of directive to referees over penalty awards. You see all the pushes and shirt pulling in the area which are fouls anywhere else on the pitch not given. Perhaps the FA don't want 6/7/8 penalties in every match

I think refs have pretty much given up on "6 of one half a dozen of the other" offences. Unless it's absolutely blatant, they seem to ignore it.

Well it is still a contact sport and I for one would be disappointed if that changed

Refs are on a bit of a hiding to nothing with this sort of stuff aren't they. I don't think most people really want to see half a dozen penalties a game - if refs started doing that they'd be furious. Doesn't stop any of us having a moan when that goes against us though.
