If we got promotion to division 1 ?
I believe back in the league was alledgely worth a million i just wondered if there was an estimated figure for the next step up( larger away followings obviously) tv revenue ?
Just wondered with clownty n mansfield spending big money this summer.
( Bob said about an extra million available if we got up)

Not sure the larger away followings would matter given that we sell-out pretty much every game anyway.

there was a plan to increase capacity if we were promoted. so a fraction more money there.
notts have much more scope capacity-wise to increase their income with L1 attendances - so maybe their risk is based somewhat on that.

increase in ticket prices.
bigger payments to clubs in league one.

all offset immediately by the costs of a league one squad.
[L1 budget averages 4x the size of L2 was a comment i remember from one of the live matches on tv]

Somebody quoted 2 to 6 million squad budget for L1 so I suppose 4 million to be competitive all other things being equal.

We would get an extra £420k or so in total prize/Premier League money. Factoring in that the wage bill would increase significantly and that we are already filling most available seats, short of a decent hike in the price of season tickets, it would be difficult to see where that much extra revenue would come from.

Oddly I think we could well be worse off financially if we went up. Without a bigger stadium to maximise gate revenue and with limited off-field income, the higher wage bill would be difficult to service.
I agree. We'd need a few cup runs I think.

Thats why prices will have to rise and things like the legends lounge are important .Maximising revenue from the fan zone and sponsorship also very important.

Surely the CEO will just put the season tickets up by 50%, parking by 100%, sponsorship by 50%. The reduced take up will be offset by giving the whole of the Stacey West to the away supporters and charging them the earth. :hmmm:

It will be interesting to see how Accrington get on with there supposed low budget. I don’t know, but did the likes of Burton and Yeovil have significant financial backing? Ok, Yeovil have come back down but they’ve both had extended periods above what I’d assume most would call their natural level, if such a thing exists.

There always used to be the naysayers that professed we never actually wanted to go up because we couldn’t afford it. If we can’t afford it now, we never will do and may as well pack it all in and accept we’re a league two club.

Agreed, we could do with being able to get more in the stadium and make hay while the sunshines, but there are enough teams that have managed a sustained success above us on less money.

Im sure farmer imp will agree with making hay while the sunshines?

I think Burton run a profit most seasons.

Just a few points,

1. I think our budget last year was about average. We paid higher wages, but had a smaller squad than most - making what we had do more for us.
2. Average wage bills are misleading because large, recently relegated, clubs will have disproportionately high wage bills, whereas newly promoted clubs will have small ones. It is the quality of the players that determines where a team finishes, not their cost.
3. Increased revenue will come from a. additional prize money / share of television money b. increased average attendance (our average last season was 8,782 over 23 league games, so room for an extra 10 - 20,000 at the same capacity) c. increased merchandising and match day sales d. increased sponsorship & cost of sponsorship d. any increase in capacity (building a temporary stand becomes a more viable proposition) e. increased ticket pricing f. increased investment from new external parties into a successful team
4. Not losing money simply relies on budgeting to spend within the confines of 3. If we haven't got it, or can't reasonably see ourselves getting it in the short term we don't spend it.
5. The business acumen on the Board and the appointment of financially savvy employees at Lincoln should be perfectly capable of making the necessary calculations and putting the correct policies in place

In LCFC we trust. :)

League money on goes up only by £200k while wages would increase x5 that figure.
I agree L1 would be testing times but league monies increase to 1.2 million once you get a into the championship.
