What's going on with kids today?

I keep hearing kids saying "lol", as in laughs out loud. Surely if you are laughing out loud it's self explanitory and if you actually say "lol" you are not laughing out. Or am I just a luddite when it comes to language?

No, that is amazing, just laugh.

Stil, could be worse, they could be pissing themselves laughing!!
 
Depends which lol they are using. There is LOL (which is laughing out loud) in caps. Then there is lol (which is lot's of love) so now you know

It's more sarcastic than anything when you say lol, but you oldies are all out of the loop with the lingo

It is funny when people (usually mums) of my parents generation adopt 'lol' as 'lots of love' due to wrongly deducing that that's what it stood for. Friend of the family once sent a big group text saying:

'Just wanted to let you know that John's brother died of cancer last night. lol'

I had to get in touch with mum and explain to her friend that the text may be mis-interpreted!

I personally never use text speak.
 
At work once a bloke left a note for the other shift.It said,
"Put 25 kgs of acid in ", so we did.

He actually meant that he had already "put" 25 kgs in,but he couldn`t be bothered to write "I`ve".This bloke is about 50 odd .
Mind you,he has tattoos and a bald head,so i suppose you`d expect it from someone like that ! :17:

No there isn't Kef, that was the highly publicised mistake made by Tony Blair. It's just laughs out loud. Whome ever told you that probably listened to Blair.
