What Will Happen To Brian Kidd?

Brian Kidd has been part of the backroom staff at Manchester City since 2009 (youth team coach) but, will waiting in the wings City manager Pep Guardiola want Kiddo's services?

In recent years it’s the 'in-thing' for in-coming mangers/coaches to bring with them their own backroom staff, however, will Kidd become surplice to requirements in the summer?

I saw a piece in the Telegraph which indicated he'd be kept on, although Kiddo himself may soon be getting to a stage of thinking about retirement on his own terms?

We will see. I think that the owners, through Khaldoon, have done a good job of keeping people with links to the club embedded in key roles throughout the organisation. They have even kept Chappy engaged in some capacity after his retirement as Kit Man. This has helped no end in maintaining the 'grounded' feel througout all the changes and transitions. Guardiola respects this I believe so if Kidd wishes to remain I suspect that some role can be created

He will be 67 in May and you wouldn't blame him if he opted for his pipe and slippers but I hope he stays for the sake of his knowledge and for continuity.

I shall retire from the social media scene if Kiddo gets the bullet, however as Colin above points out he is reaching retirment age and is already in receipt of his OAP, however I still feel that he has a role to play at City for as long as he want it.

Not sure why anyone thinks he'll get the push. Hughes, Mancini & Pellegrini all brought their own backroom staff

I don't think Kidd will go anywhere. If he wasn't replaced when Soriano and Begiristain took over, I doubt Pep will kick him out. The only job he knows is football, and he's been very good at it. Any team would pick him up as an asset immediately.

Kidd is a part of the furniture, and any manager that sought to get rid of him would be alienating a lot of long standing fans by doing so.

Saying that, as others have pointed out, he's getting on a bit now.

Suspect we might see him moved across Alan Turing way to the academy now that Paddy V has left the building. Would be a fitting final role for him at the club to oversee Pep's academy production line for a few years.

Tell you what, when he does finally retire, there better be more than a gold watch waiting for him!

They sorted Chappy out i see no reason they wont sort something for him if Pep brings his own people.

If he wants to stay on Pep would be foolish not to find a role for him, continuity in any business is important. These days 67 is not that old, Murdoch runs a world media empire and is getting married again and is in his mid eighties, so Kiddo should stay. The idiot Moyes sacked at the Rags blew all the old staff out and they have yet to recover, long may this situation remain.

Yes I wonder what attracted Gerry Hall to the multi-billionaire Rupert Murdoch

I'm led to understand he's hung like a donkey :ha-ha:
