I remember seeing somewhere that the following were all in contract for next season

GK
Farman,
Vickers

Def
Habergham
Waterfall
Wilson
Long

Mid
Bostwick
Frecklington
Woodyard
Anderson
Pett

Forwards
Green
Rhead
Palmer

That leaves
Allsop - Loan ends summer
Eardley - No contract yet
Wharton - Loan Ends summer
Whitehouse - Contract expires 2018
Williams - Loan?
Stewart -
Rowe - Loan ends summer

I'm sure someone will correct these for me at some point.

But the question is what will we need in the two scenarios

1) promotion to league 1
2) a second season in League 2

My personal feelings are we more defensive cover and a couple of strikers whichever way we end the season.

I think promotion to league 1 will see a much more intensive search for a number of positions including Left Back, Centre Back, a Left Side Winger, Midfield cover, and those elusive missing strikers.

How long is a piece of string? Too many ifs and buts at the moment, but I am sure Danny will already have two different retained lists and two different shopping lists, dependent on which division we are in. There will be elements common to both, such as that elusive striker.

Promotion to League One will obviously see more changes, and a few departures that some people may find hard to accept. Are Rhead, Habergham and Farman up to League One, for example?

obviously wharton will go back and will quite possibly play regularly in the championship. That leaves us with 3 very decent CBs. Probably another loan signing to supplement them. I think left back and left sided forward the two biggest priorities, weve been very right sided this year.

I don't just think it is personnel changes. We cannot keep relying on Matt Rhead and the players having that as a go to every match until Ollie Palmer comes on. We need a better playing surface and dependant upon the opposition formation, tactics and playing style, the ability for us to mix it up more. I am sure that is what the Cowleys do have in mind with the signing of technical players like Freck/Pett. The players will be added to whatever league we are in and no doubt the new training facilities and re-laid SB all fit into adding quality to the unbeatable mental attitude we already see.

agree on an upgrade for the playing surface. only then will it be safe to play more possession based football.
habergham at the very least needs some competition for his place.
listening to dc he likes a left-footed centre back - thank goodness - so we either keep wharton or get similar in.
a left winger.
two more strikers.

i also hope chapman makes more progress, and dream of a couple of our academy players pushing into the first team squad. do the cowleys spend much time with the academy set-up? i think the way forward is for them to build it up.

To be honest I think Habergham has reached his level. Has been found wanting at times this year and his set piece deliveries have been poor, not been the same player since his hop.

Habergham has been improving in recent weeks, although set pieces have still been iffy. However Saturday was a 'mare by his standards.

He has suffered this season having Eardley on the opposite flank, who is several levels above by comparison.
