What To Eat When The Mrs Won't Cook

colavfc - 26/2/2015 21:51

Tomatoe soup..... poor 2 bags of cheese and onion walkers crisps in. Add loads of grated cheese. Wait for crisps to go soggy. Down it.

How to ruin a good soup! Add an extra 260 cals of crisps, that's 3 teaspoons of fat, 1.5 teaspoons of sugar and then "loads" of grated cheese or in other words more fat! That's disgusting :82:

Alternatively tuna spread chow mein.... cook super noodles... empty tuna sweetcorn mayo all over. Cut up some tomatoes. Down it.

Without the mayo and the super noodles that wouldn't be too bad :17:

LOL Juan i dunno why but had a feeling you would pop up with great advice ;)

Chicken super noodles i am living on tbh for dinners, really don't eat chocolate anymore or cakes, banana's, Porridge, supernoodles, and them something for teatime that i about it for me in the daytime, also only have on average 8 teaspoons of sugar a day for about a whole week now, i am pretty proud how i have cut the crap i was eating out tbh but i realised i wasn't feeling good after eating cakes and chocolates,,,,,plus the Mrs gives me crack round th earhole cos i was pinching some sweets out the bab's treats jar they get once a day, that probably helped.

As all the top chiefs are male, I just thought it an inherent ability in Males, I can cook and bake absolutely anything, if I choose to, but my partner appreciates my tips and advice on how to improve her cooking and insists on looking after me, as she should. :14:

I'm with you there Juan. I can cook, but as I am not into sweet stuffs like cakes and tarts I can't say I can bake.

My Mrs cooks well, but being Indonesian doesn't know how to cook British 'things' so well, so I am fine tuning and improving her knowledge.... slowly....Lol

Be fair Andy, at least I don't have a house-boy to load the machine like Fear does.

I'm a qualified chef, but even if I wasn't I used to watch my mum cook, and copy, and cook for myself. If I didn't know how to cook something I would get her to write it down.

Now the internet has millions of simple recipes, stop being afraid of the stove and whip something up, there's not many rules to cooking, though I suggest you start by following recipes first and then experimenting.

If I waited for Nat to cook before eating I'd be 3 stone lighter, and only ever eat Mexican food and curry.

I do 95% of the cooking in our house and that's the way I like it.

There aren't many things I'm good at. Cooking is one of them so I aint giving that away.

Yeah, you could do that or you could just get married.

Well, that looks like another job I've lost.

I cook a curry last week, and the week before, but after watching me, Mrs Pride decided to try her hand at a Chicken Rendang..... which is a traditional Indonesian curry.

What can I say..... brilliant! I've lost my job!

I hope the pain wont be to hard to deal with. I am sure Mrs Pride can find you another job. The loss of pay though will be hard

:15:

Clive, it sounds like your missus is making you suffer if she is dieting, like mine is with me. I admit I have put on a few pounds again since the op in December, but how can she say I am not in shape? - Round is a shape. Why have a 6 pack when you can have the whole barrel? Apparently I'm "in the zone" whatever that means.

I am married, we share the cooking, I'm better at it though, and I enjoy cooking, so why wouldn't I?

I used to watch mum and dad when I was younger and also programmes like The Galloping Gourmet - he was mad as a hatter but he was so exciting to watch. And then when I moved away I learnt by trial and error. It didn't have to be fancy, just being edible was the main goal, and followed by digestible as a second goal. I used to watch programmes like Ready Steady Cook, Can't Cook Won't Cook to get ideas and then have a bash at it. I still watch some foody shows like Saturday Kitchen. I can't stand Master Chef with John Torode and the fat geezer with the glasses as I think they are expecting Restaurant style offerings and presentation and unless you are properly trained it is never going to be as good. I love to cook with alcohol as well. Certain cuts of Pork can be really enhanced with a dry cider as they cook in the pan. Beef can take a good glug of red wine as it roasts or put a capful of sherry in the gravy to lift the flavour.

Come on Clive do what I do - get the stereo on and start cranking out the music really loud, twirl your knives in your hand, howl like a banshee and let's get cooking :)
