what dead wood needs moving on this window

"Villa are also haggling with Sheffield Wednesday over right-back Alan Hutton. They want £1m while the Owls want him on a free."

"Steve Bruce is keen to play Crouch alongside John Terry"

I'm not sure about Bruce if this is true. Is Crouch expected to play at Centre back or Terry up front?

The player I willbe interested to see what happens is Tshibola.

Of all the players shipped out over the last year or so, he is the one that when I have seen him play he looks like he could be a decent player. The only thing I can think of is he has an appalling attitude. He certainly has looked more promising than any of the other midfielders, bar probably only Jedinak, so I cannot work out why he has been bombed out.

Yeah agree with that HL. Must be something behind the scenes, I thought he looked decent when played and could have brought something to the party. Certainly did more in his few games than I saw from Lansbury, for instance.

Oh CDX, stop the 'he's only 21/22' bullshite please.
How about a player like Dele Alli, similar potential and age to Grealish but, he's used it to become one of the first names on the teamsheet and to force his way into the full international squad, not the under 23's occasionly.

C'mon now, I think David cleared up the point fairly well but I'd add the issue of expecting your young players to be up there with the elite is another issue. People always use Neymar and Rooney etc. al to state that a kid at 21 will never make it if they don't do it at this age well lets not forget Mr. Bale. We don't need Grealish to be that good right now we just need more growth.

Steven Davis, Cahill, Albrighton these are all lads who took a couple seasons to get going but the talent was there we just didnt give them time or patience.

With Tshibola, Bruce may have reckoned that with the players he was bringing in, Tshibola was going to spend nearly all his time on the bench, so better to loan him out and get him some game time. He said recently that he intended to have a good look at him in pre-season. So it's possible that he may stay.

And I reckon the same will happen to a load more like RHM, Green, Davis,Lyden,Toner. I can't see Bruce going that route - he is more likely to go for experience, even if it is of the decidedly older kind. Doesn't matter who he signs if we adopt the do not lose attitude and pass the ball and 'create' like last season it will be curtains

If the likes of Agbonlahor, Gardner, Amavi, Richards, Elphick, and Bacuna don't leave and are considered to play by Steve Bruce then they will drag the others selected on a match day down to their substandard level and we will lose games by not playing with 11 players who can collectively win games.

It's over to you Steve!?

Crouch would be great for us .
The elephant in the room is still gabby and richards.
Can we ever move forward with these losers still around.
Gabby , richards , gill , veratout , elphick , hutton , bunn, gardner , cissokhu , gollini.
When all of the above are gone we can move forward.

We can move forward without them gone. 4 of the 10 have been no where squad.

And those four probably have the most to offer and annoy me a lot less than Gabby and Richards.

We'll most likely need to run the contracts down or offload on free transfers.

Hutton for all his faults can hardly be considered in the same league as the others you mention. And would do a job for us regardless of what his doubters say.

Yes we need rid, but we can't keep blaiming failure on players who do not play and the regime that brought them.

Moving on means we look to the future not the past. And we can do that no matter who is here. It's needed in us as much as the management.

Think it is imperative to trim the squad substantially. IMO a small tight squad working hard for each other and having to rely on some of the kids filling in creates the right environment for success.

Would love to see 10 leave - all the usual suspects so no surprises for me. Can see Amavi and Vertout staying until late in the window, but anyone who comes in for McCormack, Richards, Gabby and Hutton should have their arms ripped off after what I have witnessed in the games so far.

Interesting to see that the man with the joint most votes, gabby, is not only almost certainly going nowhere but was made captain for the game in the week. I'm always amazed that managers see things so completely differently to fans. Gabby must be the greatest training ground player in the world, maybe we should play our home games at Bodymoore Heath?

The only thing about the midfielders we bought last season is Landsbury Houlihan and Thors combined fee would be covered by the sale of Veretout its getting rid of the previous crop which are such rubbish that presents the problem in midfield. Up front Hogan ? big question mark here
not sure of the thinking in buying him the way we play. McCormack our worst mistake last season majority of his fee is already down the toilet. The list above pretty much sums up just how many could go without tears being shed. Would happily see 14 of those names depart
problem is who is going to buy them now?

Gill, Veretout, Sanchez, Cissokho, Tsishbola, Gollini? all gone on loan or sold. Baker a surprise not on the list.

Gardner, Elphick, Hutton, Bacuna, McCormack, Amavi all with current or recent suitors, so some cause for optimism.

Some concrete interest in Gabby and Richards, (surely some Turkish, Chinese or Arabian club is so out of touch that they'd consider either of those a coup) would make for a great summer departures wise.

My theory is every manager thinks they're different they think they're going to be the one who can unlock their talent consistently. As poor as Gabby has become he always had 5 or so games where he'd be unplayable and thats slowly come down over the seasons to 0. First day of the season away to Arsenal about 4 or 5 years ago he tore them apart and I think managers look at that type of thing and think I can bring that out in him consistently.

Look how many took a chance on Balotelli and obviously he clearly has a lot of talent but he's mental. At this level if you could figure out how to get Gabby to even get back to his MoN days you'd think he'd do well enough to do a job in some games. Thats the logic.
