Just started watching The Stranger. Seems strange watching a programms made in the UK. Everything else I watch is made in the USA.
Yeah, it's OK. Based on a Harlan Coben novel, who is American. As is "Safe" which is also shot in the UK (Michael C. Hall in it).

I also watched those two recently. They definitely feel like an American's view of English life. Sometimes the dialogue gives it away when it seems somewhat stilted (or they say things like "mate" too much!)

On episode 3 of The Stranger.
Yeah, I've never called my kids 'mate'. I always thought it was an Aussie thing. Lots of it going on. I'm enjoying it but the Mrs won't watch anything with bad language or violence, which is shame because I don't think there will ever be anything that comes close to The Sopranos.
The Mrs watched Downton Abbey and The Crown - not my thing at all.

Some of it seems a bit strange, right? That's a shame that your Mrs won't watch anything like that - they're usually the best programmes!
If you like documentary films, there is an excellent one on Netflix called The Barkley Marathons about the most insane trail running race you could ever imagine. Seriously, it's bonkers, and well worth the 90ish minutes watch.

Some great foreign dramas on Netflix: supernatural French drama Zone Blanc (Black Spot) and Norwegian detective drama Wisting are/were both excellent.

On CH4, I love Homeland, now in its final series.

I've read some if the Wisting books. Very good if you like your scandi-noir.

I stumbled across it, watched it and was engrossed. Something different and very enjoyable. La Foret (The Forest) was intriguing also. There was also a Spanish drama on there a couple of years ago called Se Quien Eres (I Know Who You Are), which was engrossing.

Homeland has been just about the best thing I've watched on TV. Although, I do wonder if the lead character, with all of her problems, would ever have been allowed in the CIA!

She's always been a bit unhinged, right from the very start! And does anyone else have such an authoritative walk as Saul Berenson? He walks like a man who gets things done.

But can you tell from the way he uses his walk that he's a ladies man?

Caught up with a Jonathan creek we'd missed last night.

Bit of an obscure one, but on All4 (channel 4 catch-up service) there's a great series called Hamilton's Pharmacopoeia. It's by a chemist specialising in psychotropic drugs where he investigates different examples, their effects and impact on society. Sounds a bit odd but it's quite interesting. He investigates everything from Quaaludes use in South Africa and PCP, to natural ones like peyote, fly agaric, toad venom and "dream fish" (literally a fish you consume that has hallucinatory effects).

Not online but just finished the final episode of The Rise Of The Murdoch Dynasty, fascinating in a scary way.
NottyImp I think you would enjoy as a piece of television although would just confirm your view of the world as we know it.

As far as online shows, subscribed to Netflix for 1st time at start of lockdown considering spending more time at home , and late to the party we’ve now watched Breaking Bad from start to finish. Better Call Saul to start next

IMHO, Better Call Saul is the superior programme. Has one of the best and finely nuanced portrayals of sibling rivalry I have ever seen on the small - or, indeed, large - screen.

Sounds interesting. May look it up. There's not much about the Murdoch's I like, so you're probably right. ;)

Just started watching "A Suitable Boy" on the Beeb with Mrs Notty.

Based on the novel by Vikram Seth. Mildly diverting and some interesting elements of post-independence Indian politics.
