Ambulances were called to one Birmingham home 661 times but only 12 callouts led to hospital visits.

West Midlands Ambulance Service released details of the 10 top 999 callers in a year and the number of times people went to hospital.

Not sure what I make of this...surely a huge distinction between people phoning up asking for the heating to be turned down as referenced in the TV report and then people genuinely with an issue, panicking, unsure if they need A&E or not?

That's almost 2 a day to the same house. Even if those calls are justified emergencies, if someone is that ill they should be in hospital or a care home.

That's the other point it raises isn't it, are some of these cases kicked out way too early, and in some cases are the calls justified but should there (I don't know if there is) be a quick and easy way for 999 to refer immediately onto NHS direct to provide advice where needed etc.

If somebody is panicking they trust 999.

Yup, namechecked another End as well that B34 covered but didn't recognise that - then again Shard End was as far as my circle lived lol

I have also drank and been to sleep since then so you remembered that well!
