With today a recovery day, Thursday a training day and Friday a travel day for Saturday’s game, there is very little time for Matos to have much influence on his team of misfiring players.

Both teams are not doing very well. West Brom play Birmingham tonight in a derby game, so we get the extra day recovery time and hopefully West Brom burn themselves out against their local rivals.

West Brom have only scored 16 goals so far this season, same as us.

Also playing tonight are Sheff Utd v Portsmouth, both down the bottom with us.

The trend this season is for our opponents to play a high block, expose our flanks on the counter and outmuscle us off the ball. Our team is too lightweight against these big Championship players, maybe the situation can be rectified in January.
 
Sheff Utd beat Portsmouth 3-0 tonight, so we are now only 2 points from the relegation zone.
West Brom drew 1-1 at home to Birmingham.
Their home record is W3 D4 L1 F8 A6.
 
Oxford leapfrog us in the table tonight as they show us how to beat Ipswich.
A goal from Mark Harris and one from man of the match, ex-Swan Przemysław Placheta, gave them the three points.
Ipswich looking very ordinary and nothing like the team that hammered us 1-4 recently.

West Brom several shots but nothing to worry Vigouroux. They had 60% possession but we frustrated them.
Another ref who ignores fouls on our players.
Let’s see if we can keep them out second-half.

Out of a relegation place only on goal difference.

No guts for the fight in this side.

Capitulated second half big time, we just cannot defend our goal
West Brom scored three goals but it could easily have been double figures but for Vigouroux.

Five straight defeats.

We are playing even worse than before Matos came.
Did he think Cullen and Fulton were going to change the game when they came on. Both shouldn’t be anywhere near the team.
Idah did his usual strolling around when he came on.
 
Priority, we need a defensive coach pronto. This lot can’t defend to save their lives. They go to pieces under pressure. We’ve got two centre-backs getting splinters on the bench, Santos and Casey, are they not any good either.
We have full-backs that can’t stop a cross, we need two in January.
We need wingers that can beat a man and midfielders who don’t burn themselves out after fifteen minutes.
In short, the summer recruitment was a disaster.
 
Maybe not the thread for this, but if we did go down to League One, would the owners remain interested? Would we have a go at it or not?

I reckon they've committed too much now to try and back out. They'd have to get us back up to the Champ to try and claw money back but who knows. I really hope it doesn't come to that but for now it's really hard to see how we get out of this. Confidence is getting lower and lower and there's no fight in us.
