Tottenham have asked to be kept informed of Riyad Mahrez’s position at Leicester City.

The 26-year-old attacker has asked to leave but Leicester want close to £50million for him. Tottenham would not enter the race seriously unless the price dropped substantially.

The Algeria international score for the Foxes in their Premier League Asia Trophy match with West Brom on Wednesday.

Speaking after the match, manager Craig Shakespeare said he hoped the 26-year-old would stay at the club.

“We want him to stay,” Shakespeare told reporters. “I would like him to stay, as manager.

“As I say, he has stated his case clearly but, while he is here, I need that full commitment.”

Spurs face competition from rivals Arsenal for Barkley

Spurs are yet to sign a player and Juan Foyth, the 19-year-old Argentine defender, now looks likely to join Paris St Germain from Estudiantes for about £8m despite holding initial talks with Spurs.

Meanwhile, Spurs target Ross Barkley is also on the radar of Arsenal ahead of his expected departure from Everton next month.

Barkley has long been wanted by Tottenham and is attracted by the idea of joining the club, where Mauricio Pochettino has worked successfully with his England colleagues Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Eric Dier.

We wont enter race unless hes under 20m lol

I read a few weeks back the foxes wanted around 30m? So 20m difference in 2 weeks lol that makes sense.

He is a decent player though and would probably be a first 11 player in the right set up. Bags of pace.

He is a shithead. Most of those Leicester louts have attitudes. One hit wonders.

And I haven't been drinking. That won't start for about 90 minutes. Then all bets are off. Boys night.

Showed his true colours last season. It's a no from me. Although, we bought Sissoko who showed his true colours the season before we wasted money on him so maybe he's our top target.

he's had one very good season where everything clicked, after that he looked pretty average and uninterested last season, speak to Leicester fans and you'll find that they aren't really fussed about him going, and do say that if he stays he's got to have an 'attitude adjustment' ...

I'd take him as a straight swap for Sissoko.

Mahrez might give us one good game in ten, a far better return than we've got from that pile of shite.

There's few players that wouldn't have done better than Sissoko last year, but that's not to say that they would have been a good buy.

Compared to Sissoko at 30 mil I can't think of a worse signing we could have made.

I still want someone sacked for this transfer, I won't let it be brushed under the carpet lol.

You won't find any arguements from me about how ridiculously idiotic the Sissoko transfer never mind the price was.

To make things worse, that signing is what prevented us from winning the league. We had 30million to spend on an attack midfielder. If it had of been anyone half capable we would have a title to our name. I'm pretty certain of that.

Well, you know who I wanted and why....

Zaha would have been the key that might have unlocked the cabinet - just got better game after game.

I thought the same in 15/16 when I suggested we get Mahrez in to replace Lamela.
