Well Done Gills Fans

For all the slagging off of the team on the other threads for being crap, at least Gills fans won it on the terraces. I heard some very complimentary words about us fans from Spurs fans on the way back to the tube. Songs like 'Shall we sing a song for you' and 'Your supposed to be at home' and '5-0 and you still don't sing' was good banter from our lot.
Sometimes the team don't deserve that support they get, particularly last night, but the 3,000 last night didn't seem to care.
 
Those are all well known chants so would hardly call it good banter. I was right at the back in the corner and didn't think the atmosphere was that great (surrounded by old women and a fairly annoying family) was it more lively in the South Stand lower?
 
It was a long way from the best I've heard, but it was still good. In contrast I never really heard Spurs until after their 3rd goal went in.

Ha I was in the upper tier too, you had the whole mix of Gills fans. I seemed to be stuck in the middle of families and those who felt they could give a bit of abuse to the families for not singing. Overall I thought we made a decent amount of noise. Nothing special but decent.
 
This is the problem when there are so many fans spread in different areas. We were in the south stand lower quite near the partition, the atmosphere was brilliant. But as usual when there's a big away following, there were often chants from one part of fans which when fading out, you realised there was another chant going on in a different part of the support.
 
I too was in south stand lower quite near the partition and the atmosphere was great up until the first goal went in and that pretty much killed it until after we'd gone 3 behind, then the gallows humour came to the fore and it started to get a little lively again.

Gills fan in a pink shirt copped (and returned) and load of abuse from the Spurs lot and there was the usual array of pointless gestures and posturing.
 
The Tottenham fans were very complimentary of our support.
My daughter tells me that there were a lot of Spurs fans on Twitter that were saying how impressed they were that we kept on signing even when 4 or 5 down.
They reckoned we were loud and many said the best support they have had there for a long time.

I was sat in the East Stand upper on half way. Gills were loud all night and after a lady outed me as a Gills fan early on (my head was in my hands constantly) she complimented us on how loud we were and sang inoffensive songs!

Herrljunga, interesting you mention a guy in a pink shirt. Was he middle aged in glasses? I was at WHL Station and a "Gills fan" in a pink shirt made some anti sematic comments to younger Spurs fans. Older Spurs fans and myself turned on him calling him a "****" and a "disgrace to Gills fans". He had a kid with him too. He turned and stared at the train map ignoring us saying "if we go to Seven Sisters and change....". I left the pathetic excuse for human and hope the Spurs lads gave him a hiding. Scum of the earth.
