Welcome Stones

At least our annual centre back signing is coming from within the PL this time so doesn't have to adapt to a new country as well as a new team.

Anyone's guess Brutto, I'd say Otamendi for now.

Great news and i agree Otamendi favourite for me.

BBC Sport -

"It's an ambitious club with a great manager so I can't wait to get stuck in," said the former Barnsley player.

"I know it will be tough getting a place in this team, but I'm determined to become the best player I can be and help us to success."

John Stones: Man City sign England defender - but why have they paid £47.5m?

Manchester City have paid a fee of £47.5m to sign the 22-year-old from Premier League rivals Everton.

Is he worth it? What exactly have City got for their huge outlay? And will the big-money move help cement Stones' place as a regular for his country?

The contrast in the articles on the BBC site on signings of Stones and Pogba bear some scrutiny.

The Pogba signing just mentions that the fee exceeds that paid for Bale and have Turdinand banging on about how he is "worth every penny".

When it comes to Stones they focus on how this is the second most expensive defender ever and their second, separate article is under the headline "Is John Stones is worth the money?"

A contrast in emphasis from the BBC methinks :027:

I don't follow other clubs/players so found the "Is John Stones worth the money" a good read, if it is right it looks like he will be comfortable playing Pep's way as it was the way Martinez encouraged him to play.

I'm just glad we didn't bow to Everton's demands for £50m and only gave them £47m - show we can't be messed around with.

Don't try to be too clever on the six yard line and please be better than Tony Vaughan, anything else will be a bonus.
