7. McGlen was supposed to be part of a swap deal, which took him from Man Utd to Stockport in exchange for Herd in 1960. McGlen changed his mind at the last minute and decided to join Lincoln instead, scuppering Herd's move to Old Trafford. He then joined Arsenal and obviously avoided being part of the Munich Air Disaster a year later, only to eventually sign for United a few years later.

I think you're right about that, but it was in 1952 when McGlen decided to join City instead of Stockport.
 
2. Phil O'Connor. A youngster we had on loan 1975. Scored on his debut but played only 4 in total before going to Australia playing over 20 games for them in the 1980's which included matches against England in an 1983 tour there.

Was unfortunately killed in a car crash at a young age soon after ending his career
