Happy days are here again. The sun has got his hat on. And Lincoln City are on the way back to where they belong.

Those things may or may not be true, but interest in Lincoln City is higher than it has been since we were cast out into the wilderness of the Conference five long years ago. Is it only five years? It seems like an eternity, but time flies only when you are having fun. And fun is the key to what Vital Lincoln City is all about: we write some rubbish about Lincoln City, lots of people add some more rubbish in reply, and Lincoln City ends up with some money. The club then invests that money into making everything about the club better, we start winning more games, we write more rubbish about the games we are winning and the club gets even more money from us. Easy, isn't it?

And more money is our target from now on. Vital Lincoln City has raised over ?1750 for the club so far this year, and the target is to reach ?4000 by the year end. Would you like someone to give you ?4000? So would Lincoln City, and it won't cost you a penny.

To this end, we have to increase the volume of traffic through the site. The first step towards this was the inclusion of Gary's weekly blog item a couple of weeks ago. The second step is the re-launch of the Vital Lincoln City newsletter, to be sent to members every week. Containing links to the more significant and entertaining front page articles and discussions from the previous seven days, it is an opportunity to revisit these or view them for the first time if you have missed them. And why not forward the email to a friend (or two) who is not a Vital Lincoln City member? The more members, the better. Get our message out there; be proud to support Lincoln City; pass that on.

You will see the newsletter arrive in your email inbox every Saturday/Sunday. Feel free to unsubscribe if you do not wish to receive it, but we hope you will view this as another rung up the long ladder back to the Football League.

And at the risk of sounding like a cracked record, we do need more members; we need more people to contribute to existing threads; we need more members to create more threads; we need more members to submit articles or create new regular features. Being a site journalist need not demand too much of your time, and it is an enjoyable experience to contribute an item that is read by many thousands of people. Remember that some of these articles reach a far wider audience than Vital Lincoln City; they can appear on sites like News Now which will attract more people to our site and to Lincoln City. The outcome can only be positive. If you have any ideas, let Jules know.

In case anyone thinks all of this amounts to very little, we would point out that Clive Nates is a Vital Lincoln City member, and an active one; perhaps there are more Clives out there, but we will only reach them by writing interesting articles and carrying out relevant discussions on Vital Lincoln City. We need to show the watching world that this is a vibrant place to be, that our club is worth attention and - ideally - investing in. The arrival of Danny and Nicky Cowley has created a buzz around the club that has been missing for far too long; for the first time since we slipped out of the League, there is a very real prospect that City can launch a serious bid to regain that elusive place in the elite 92, and we won't need some highly dubious Football League proposals to deliver that for us. How badly do you want that to happen?
