Tottenham say they will not be bullied by Manchester United and Manchester City over Eric Dier and Kyle Walker

Tottenham Hotspur are adamant they will not be bullied over the futures of Eric Dier and Kyle Walker as the club close in on a £9 million deal for teenage central defender Juan Foyth.

Dier and Walker, who played for England in June, are due to return to pre-season training on Friday after being given extra time off.

Manchester United have turned their attention back to Dier and there have been claims that the 23-year-old wants to move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham insist Dier is not for sale, having already turned down one bid from United, and are still waiting to see whether Manchester City will match their £50m asking price for Walker.

The threat of having two players who are hoping for moves away, however, will not alter Tottenham’s stance or bring down the asking price on Walker.

With Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane both joining Everton for £30m, Spurs believe £50m represents the going rate for somebody of Walker’s pedigree.

Chairman Daniel Levy will not reassess the asking price on Walker as the transfer window drags on, particularly after City missed out on Dani Alves to Paris Saint-Germain.

Dier’s ability to switch between midfield and central defence during games makes him a difficult player to replace and Tottenham want to keep him.

Foyth is also a versatile player who can operate in defence or midfield, but the Argentinian is only 19 and will need time adapt and develop.

Tottenham are hopeful of agreeing a deal with Estudiantes for Foyth, although it is unclear whether he is viewed as a signing to challenge for a first-team place this season or one for the future.

Having looked at Keane and Harry Maguire, who moved to Leicester City, Spurs have also shown an interest in Swansea City central defender Alfie Mawson.

Kevin Wimmer is keen to leave White Hart Lane and play more first-team football, but Tottenham have not yet ruled out keeping the Austrian they value at £20m.

Other than trying to strengthen their defence, Tottenham remain interested in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and Bournemouth forward Josh King.

Everton had been demanding £50m for Barkley, but his omission from the club’s pre-season tour could bring his price down.

Spurs have enquired about King but may face stiff competition from Everton who are in the market for a new forward after selling Romelu Lukaku and have shown an interest in both King and Christian Benteke.

King has expressed an interest in joining Tottenham, but could be guaranteed more playing time at Goodison Park, where he would not be behind Harry Kane in the pecking order.

I don't get the hype over King £30 million for a 26 year old who had half a decent season.

Janssen started 12 games for us last season and scored 6 goals and 6 assists, majority of his other appearances were for less than 10 minutes a game! His first season in the league coming from a fairly poor league. Scored a couple of goals in as many games for Holland. He's only just turned 23 as well.

Last few sub appearances for us I thought he showed enough to be given another season, with more minutes I reckon he's capable of scoring 10+ in the league, which is good considering Harry will be main man, every game.

That figure should be within his compass given the many chances we create, but he’ll need to show better technique & ball control to accomplish it. I hope he’s using the close season to work on his weaknesses.

Agree, he has a lot to improve on but do think he has potential, no point in getting rid now and taking a risk on another young striker that will need time to settle in.

Seems as though Walker is close to signing for City, £50m.

What a terrible bit of business this will be and guaranteed to weaken our team. Well done Spurs

It's pretty obvious we won't do any proper business until Walker is sold. Hardly a mentality of a big club is it.

dunno if its a good or bad thing... trippier lacks walkers pace but makes up for it with an earlier and more accurate cross...

Medical tomorrow

Trippier will be exposed badly against the better teams, especially in the CL. He's a good player but if we plan on making him our number 1 RB our team has been weakened. But we would have made a lovely little profit so all good :5:

We wont be bullied

later that day

Player sold

LOL

Good we all knew it was happening so we better start spending some money now. Since Jan we have made over 80m.

It's an all-round bad deal, but Poch won't have anyone around who gives 'attitude' and believes he has the right to start no matter what., in that respect, I can't blame him.

So the numbers gone from £30 mill a few months back to £50 mill now..but it's relative in as much transfer inflation means it will soon be eaten up paying for over-inflated fees when we buy.

I know he was universally disliked by far too many Spurs fans for my liking, (and one of the reasons he probably left as the sh*t he picked up from fans on social media and you could hear within feet of him again and again must have had an effect) but I think all we've done or will have done is strengthen city and weakened us...

Just got to hope that Poch thinks we can deal with his loss.

Not only will they get walker but they look like getting mendy as well. Damn they are patching up that defence.

Do you believe Walker's long-standing brain fart moments will suddenly disappear?
