We need to talk about...

it does sound like a more expensive option. At a time when the financial experts are saying cut back, be patient, austerity.
And even if we can afford the two cb, we also need a keeper that can accurately play out to them, and the full backs - on a fairly regular basis. Plus do all the other keeperstuf. How much does that cost?

You buy young players with the raw attributes and coach them over time. You establish an academy and bring youngsters through while coaching it into them.

I imagine it means bringing in players who were schooled in PL academies and are therefore already comfortable with it. Which is a cheaper option too.

Looking forward to seeing it eventually filter into the first team. I hope the board give Appleton the full three years, and more.
but in the meantime we also need a few bricutts and a new pitch.

Welcome to League 1 and playing with some of the big boys.

We're at a crossroads in the next 3 seasons or so and the wrong decision could wreck all of the fantastic progress we've made in the last 3 seasons and see us back down the leagues almost as quick as we came up.

Time to hunker down, for the fans to rein in their expectations and let the club and management team work out ways to consolidate our presence in League 1 while we develop some talent, we cannot afford to keep sustaining these losses without eventually borrowing some money from someone who is eventually going to want it back.

If it doesn't we will almost certainly still have a club to support. Ask Bury fans which model they would prefer...

Oh for, sure. No problem with the model as I've stated on here many times, doubtful about how well it can be applied to playing out from the back, specifically. But happy for MA to give that a shot, as well.

I will keep reminding him when it goes wrong, though. -5 GD atm. ;)

If it doesn't then we really will have to resign ourselves to a permanent residence in League 2 with the occasional brief foray into League 1, I would guess we're aspiring to be like Doncaster instead though...

I always aspire to be Doncaster! It's my dream in life...

I was trying to be funny. Clearly, I really need to learn to do olive. ;)

Ignore beasts and monsters. Let’s get 11 5ft2 lads that can play. Payne and Morrell at centre half and never give the ball away.

I like that plan! What could possibly go wrong?

[Gives up]

I know it's been touched on before, but why has Anthony Scully's accent changed from broad cockney to broad Irish in three years?
