Don`t know whether he`s fit now but it would be very timely to get young Joe Quigley back into the team to play alongside Cody. With Wagstaff playing back in his preferred position and JET & Bradley supporting the attack we could certainly consolidate, or accelerate, our improvement into the new year.

I`m still pretty enthused about the season. UTG.

IF Quigley's recovering from a bad ACL injury then you've got to imagine he'll be unreliable from an availability point of view for the rest of the season. For a squad that's been hampered with injuries and unreliability I personally can't see Jed going through this again with another player.
 
Think Quigley`s been back in training for several weeks now but, you`re right Trev, we`ve had more than our fair share of injury woes and only 100% fit will suffice.
 
Whilst I agree we could do with a target man to enable us to have a plan B during the match or to mix it up when required, i'm not convinced that Bayo is the answer given his age and general lack of mobility.

We should be looking to find a young up and coming forward who can act as a hold up player and bring others in. That player could be Quigley but he hardly had any minutes for us (less than 90 in total across 3 appearances) and whilst I agree he shaped with potential and could be the player we need, to suggest he should be brought in and play up front with Cody right away is in my view a little optimistic. I hope JED has got his scouts looking for such a player.

Personally I would also be looking to a get player to make our defence more secure. Whether this is another defender or a holding midfielder who provides better cover I'm not sure but as someone has said on another thread, there were a couple of times from the highlights where Peterborough just opened up our defence with a very simple pass and with better finishing could have been out of sight before we got our equaliser. We just concede way too many goals!

But I share Lancs enthusiasm. Whilst it may prove to be misplaced I expected nothing against an in form Peterborough side and if we get something against Millwall we can go into the New Year in a positive frame of mind.

Bayo is a League 2 player and he knows it. That's why he left AFC and went to Wycombe, if they go up he will be off again.
 
I think the reason we were caught out against Posh was to do with midfield and strikers, we played a high line (defensively) which requires you to press the ball. Peterborough in the 2nd half were given too much time to pick the pass, generally forwards are quicker than central defenders and will beat them in a foot race. Pressing the ball and stopping the pass is what we did well in the first half but poorly in the second.
 
Bayo's presence up front ensured he was a nuisance and causing havoc in the opposing six yard box but although he is a formidable League Two player, he would struggle in our league except maybe as an impact sub. I mean let's face it- his pace and movement aren't his greatest qualities, he is in the twilight of his career, and he cannot get on the end of losing balls that bypass the midfield (which is sometimes how we have played this season).
 
Akinfenwa or even Kedwell as a target man if we have to go back, but Norris, no chance. I'm surprised he's scored as many as one goal for them already! I've seen him on two live televised games since he signed for the Swine. In both games he had a brilliant goalscoring opportunity and in both games he completely missed the ball, total air shot. Very funny indeed!
 
So our basically slow team that is vulnerable on the counter attack needs a big, slow, immobile centre forward. Counterintuitive thinking.
 
Having Norris as our main striker from last January onwards was a massive miscalculation by JED, when he should have been looking to sign someone new then.
 
Yup, I wonder how many goals Cody could have scored if he hadn't been left up front on his own against 6' 4" full backs.
I really don't understand where JED thought the goals were going to come from, unless it was the overstaffed midfield.
 
I was about to shoot you down for mentioning Marquis, saying his time with us was a Rory Donnelly-style moment above his station. That said, at Donny he's scored 11 in 21 and before scored 6 in 13, so a good return for a striker albeit in a lower league. Only thing was when him and Cody played together I was always wondering who would get the most out of their position - I got the feeling we could've played Marquis in Cody's position.

Norris would've been the preferred partner to Cody if we had him when we played two up top earlier in the season.

Akinfenwa had great scoring record, great hold-up play and a great first touch. I think he could still do a job in League 1 but wouldn't go back for him. It would invite us to hoof it more.

Kedwell isn't a hold-up striker and I can't think of a formation or partner which would make us and him effective in League 1.
