We are said to be interested in yet another midfielder - Dawson of Bury

You could argue that although Bury was his parent club, Reilly wasn't really part of the team that went down.

From what I know of Dawson, he would have been a replacement for Byrne had he left.

I am curious as to the source of this and when the rumour started. It could be we were looking at him as a potential replacement for Byrne had he not signed a new contract.

HITC website is certainly one source, apparently the Spotters, Bradford, Shrewsbury and us are interested. 32yr old, 14 games for Bury last season and the Bury fans on their board seem to be rubbing their hands in anticipation.

Our current midfield pro's with contracts:

MARK BYRNE
BRADLEY STEVENSON
DARREN OLDAKER
BEN CHAPMAN
AARON SIMPSON
NAVID NASSERI
BILLY BINGHAM
CALLUM REILLY
HENRY WOODS
CHARLES-COOK
REES
PARRATT
HLLABI (only 6 months)

Simpson also Plays Left back but then some others – List, Parker, Garmeston – might play in an attacking midfield role

Bloody hell! When you list it like that it sure looks more than adequate.

True, but apart from Byrne, Bingham, Reilly and Parrett there's not a lot of first-team experience there, especially at this level. I hope a few of them break through next season rather than us relying on loans from elsewhere.

It's the new fashion - any thread purely about football has to have Brexit/political debate brought into it somewhere.

So as a counter-revolutionary I try to introduce football comment into all political/Brexit threads. It's a question of balance.

I don't think we will be in for him, but it is to simple to chuck everyone in the 'midfielder' category. For example only 2 play in the same defensive role as Dawson (Bingham and Chapman). And both of them are more read the game defenders than physical units. All the others either box to box or attacking midfielders (Hlabi is a forward).
