Wayne Rooney will not be offered escape route by Manchester City

I bet Ricky Lambert would score more for the 'rags' than him. There's a top striker. Plays for a p*ss poor team like Southampton but scores week-in and week-out.

Rooney's competition at international level:

Peter Crouch
Jermaine Defoe
Danny Welbeck
Andy Carroll
Darren bent
Danny Sturridge

I guess he just might be the finest of his generation!

But that would be damning him with faint praise.

all because he scored a goal against Arsenal when he was 16.... and then Taggart creamed himself over it, and paid Moyes 30 million for' a prospect' and if that was not inflating the transfer market i didnt know what was.....

the reat as they say is History.... and an over rated one at that, even the rag pr machine treid to get him into the Beckham/posh spice territory by Selling the 'wedding' to a glossy mag, and even that failed when 'Our Wayne' opened his mouth..... They ran for the hills,.... cant think why?

Have to disagree, I think the Scum are much weaker when he doesnt play. He used to be the only true International player in the England squad, though admittedly had a couple of forgettable tournaments. I dont want him anywhere near the Etihad but he has been a class player over the years ..on th pitch!!

I agree he's had his moments, but don't think he's ever been consistent. He goes missing frequently and his indiscipline has cost the rags and England more than a few times.

A player capable of brilliance but not a brilliant player.

And don't forget that only a couple of years ago some of us were wetting ourselves at the prospect of signing him.

True, the competition for places at internatinal level hasn't been great, but he's played in tournaments and the rags have got to two CL finals with him. When was the last time one of our players lit up a tournament, probably Trev in the mid 80's, and we promptly sold him to Sampdoria!

And if we did sign Shrek are we going to boo him, or even call him Shrek? Course not, we'd be encouraging shag a granny nights, calling him the mutt's nuts and laughing at the rags....until they use the money to buy Ronaldo.

And that is why young Wayne must stay at the Swamp

I'd still call him Shrek, uglyface, bacon faces love child, etc.

I don't think many city fans were wetting themselves over the potential transfer either..

Although I agree hes not a bad player, he looked fairly good when he came on against united aswell.

At the time Rooney was purportedly on his way to Manchester, I don't think any of us actually wanted him as a player.

But him leaving the rags would have caused them irreperable damage, so it was the schadenfreude factor that had me excited.

Didn't want him, but would have enjoyed watching the rags' heads explode as one of their players left "The world's greatest club" for ickle City.

Would love ladyboy, think he is now class, but only when he scores for his team he celebrates as he should.

Not into not celebrating scoring against your old Club, it makes a statement that you shouldn't have got rid in the first place.

Franny Lee sold to Derby, came back scored an absolute cracker and celebrated in style.

Those who think you should not, because it was your old club need to get used to it.
