Warm weather training break

Skoorb

Alert Team
City are due to use the cancellation of the Manchester derby to take a warm weather training break in Abu Dhabi planned after Champions League fixture against Monaco. It appears they will use the training facilities at the Emirates Palace hotel and take the opportunity to meet Sheikh Mansour. He who pays the piper.....

The last time City did this under Pellegrini they arrived back the day before n Fa Cup fixture against Middlesbrough.......and lost the match.

Good idea or not?

I don't blame them - I love the warm weather training, especially as I did in Tenerife the other week. Works wonders on the soul. The beer and food wasn't too shabby either.

Ah sure why not? As long as they aren't rushing to get back like last time then I don't see an issue.

Yup, no problem with this as long as they're back in plenty time to prepare properly for our next game

The FA Cup reply date surely puts a massive spannner in these plans. I can see the same thing happening as the last time under Pellegrini against Middlesbrough. The dates will get condensed - they have got to go this week but will now have to come back sooner. They will arrive back say, on Monday, and **ck up the replay on the Tuesday. Not the best prep for a game and only of value (imo) if spread out and without the shortened time frame/pressure to return

Simon Stone of the Beeb tweeted yesterday that Guardiola said that the replay doesn't affect plans as they're due back Saturday anyway.

The sense of deja vu is unnerving though.

I have reluctantly voted no. Travelling is tiring and disruptive however young and fit you are. The only plus point is they get to see Sheikh Mansour and hopefully be remotivated.

With the weather in the Gulf at the moment, they would be better staying home.

It's cold !!

I hope the Sheikh tells them all to get their fingers out and beat Huddersfield in the replay.
How long would the journey take, an hour?
Players here travelling every second week to Adelaide 2&1/2 hours, to Melbourne 3&1/2 to Sydney 4 hours and Brisbane nearly 5 hours now and then to Tasmania 6 hours.
Rarely play during the week of course.

I've just checked and it's 18 degrees. To me that's lovely jubbly!

The info about flying time is about the Aussie rules teams our local Perth assoc football team have to travel to Wellington as well which takes nearly 8 hours.
All the times given are one way so a good amount of time is talked up with travelling.

That's pretty cold for us down here Rising. :006: :006:

Currently 21deg in Muscat, normally 28/29 this time of year.

Was raining while I was in Dubai last week, Saudi has floods.

At least the rain is slightly warmer than Manchester

My blood has thinned with the time I have been out here, nothing to do with the beverages :049:

It's shorts and tee-shirts, ya wimps. :020:

One time a long time ago Rising I was working up in North West Queensland.
The Scottish rugby team were in Aussi e on a tour and they came up to Mt Isa
To play a combined team from the local area.
It was the middle of winter and the temps then were around the low twenties so we were all wearing jeans and pullovers. The jocks thought we were crazy as they were walking about with just their shorts on. We all had a good laugh about it and even now, the wife and I often have a bit of a giggle when we share a few memories.
The normal temp in the Isa is around the high thirties and low forties so like Seac the blood was very thin up there.
Hope this info puts a smile on your face like that on mine as I type it.
