VS newcastle cup game

That aged really well !!

Lol lol lol

We outplayed them most of the game until we got knackered. In a game without MGW involved !!

And wingbacks were amongst our best players as they ALWAYS are alongside 3 centre backs
Not really mate, cup games don’t count.

Still it was fun enough.

What was the game like, on radio?
They said we had awful start

Were then the better team

Had players out on their feet at the end when Newcastle could have won it

And that Nuno probably regretted not bringing on wood for awoniyi when he was trying to (when Anderson signalled he needed to come off instead)

Radio 5 really liked the performance of Moreira

I will point out he had a really poor game against olympiakos

But flourished in a back 5

I suggest the difference in how he plays will always be noticeable between full back and wing back

Merino.also getting plaudits for a good game. Again as wing back of course not full back.

We've played without MGW with a back 5 and again looked very good overall against a stong Newcastle team

And that's hard to do with a team thrown together as randomly as this team

So you didn’t actually see the game?

No im on holiday

Listened to commentary on 5 live. It was the match they chose for commentary. They were very impressed by Forest. Said Nuno would be disappointed we didn't get the win

And followed live comments on bbc and match stats as well as keeping an eye on comments on here at same time throughout the game. Spotted you early of course when we were losing but then you slunk away?

Plus I've also watched ten plus mins of highlights

As ive pointed out already - your own childlike, shockingly bad analysis on here was so so far off what actually happened. I was kind of embarrassed for you tbh.

The match proved to be pretty much the total opposite of what you gleefully suggested would happen with 5 at the back?

You must have been so disappointed when we started to look so effective in that formation with our second team?

You kind of disappeared into a hole from the thread when we were playing well. And only re-emerged after we lost on penalties?

Blackgold:
"5 at the back leads to a ton of pressure."
"Such a negative and pointless formation"

Lol

Don't do the usual and try to divert with your childish replies. Just be the big guy and say sorry?

Go on admit you were wrong?

You can do it black gold!

The formation really suited the wingbacks and they thrived (as our wingbacks always do alongside 3 centre backs). The formation also helped our thrown together centre backs get a grip after the bad start

But you didn’t see the ACTUAL game?

Someone else’s point of view and highlights (which by their very nature are edited) is how you’ve come to your conclusion?

I could see how the formation leads to overloads in midfield and players not understanding their role…plus with better players in the pitch why did we cede so much at the end of regular time?
Was it tiredness, or the lack of outlet?

Buy, well, yeah yeah yeah yeah…radio said some nice stuff so I’m definitely right!

Point is, without seeing it yourself your point is invalid.

Lads - anyone who watched the game - if we did indeed play well last night with 3 back up centre backs, our second team and without MGW - sorry it doesn't count as I wasn't watching it live with you

Sorry I let you down

Just pretend the game never happened

We did play well

Up until last 20 mins when players flagged.

Mayb the formation played a part in that?
Too many subs too early I think?

Didn't help

Left us with awoniyi barely able to walk but no subs left to bring on for example

Nuno - getting people minutes earlier on than he might do in EPL game

Unless that's all made up by 5 live commentators?

The defence looked awful and like it could be cut to shreds every time Newcastle came forward. No one seemed to know what they were doing or where they should be, midfield and defence. That's was the first 15 mins.

After that we grew into the game and nerves disappeared and players started to understand the formation and their roles.

Given the team selection and strength of opponents selection that was to be expected and overall was a really good performance and told Nuno alot about his squad.

Not sure this really showed anything in terms of formation being superior for us as we have played well in the 2 league games with 4 at the back and created 8 on target opportunities in both of them as well. It shows we have a fluid squad capable of switching formations when needed though

But Moreira a totalky different player as wingback?

Same as aina. Same as Williams?

And Moreno flourishes getting forward?

If 3 cenre backs struggled together how would 2 of them have coped ?
