vs Everton match thread

I don’t think he should be sacked, but I’ve got to be honest, I was expecting more. Thought we would be hard to beat etc.
The 2 performances versus Everton and Fulham away where we haven’t really laid a glove on them once. Very disappointing.
Think the Spurs and Liverpool results doing some heavy lifting still.

We can have whatever management we want but if the players don’t score then we are fucked

Kali must be dog awful in training if Dyche is trotting out stats like that for bringing on Taiwo

That was my thoughts too, same with McAtee - may be attitude or the fact that they're not happy on the bench - but look at the way Omari grabbed his opportunity!

Also, see real promise in Bakwa!

Jesus was way off it last night.

He was, as were Dominguez, Zinchenko - Taiwo is useless and both MGW & Anderson need a rest.

Problem is, lose against Villa & Wet Spam - we then have FA Cup, where Kiefer Moore is obviously going to score.

I thought Everton looked so much bigger & stronger last night and even though we did play some nice football, we lack real quality in the box - where we put in some really good crosses, but lack a target man to take advantage.

We also make mistakes and good sides take advantage, we don't - so I just wonder now what moves Dyche can & will make from tomorrow onwards - a striker has to be No.1 target!

Amazed Villa are only 4/5 to beat us. Thought they'd be about 2/5 to 1/3

Was it that bad?

At 50+, I would have more chance of scoring than Awoniyi.... he had another chance afterwards (8 yards out, low cross from Omari or Neco) when he 'tried' to get it on his stronger foot - but clearly couldn't work out which was which.

Jesus was outmuscled, which is not a shock against Tarkowski & co - but, his first touch was woeful last night!

I would also drop Victor.

Every single one of us must be thinking the same thing , how the hell is he even getting in the squad ? Shame as he was a handful before but he is not the same player at all .

He looks like he's running in treacle, has zero stamina and couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo when stood next to it.

Dyche will know, clearly Kali is only played out of pure necessity and an early call has to be made on Wood's injury - we need at least 1 more striker!

I think it’s easy to pick out individuals and say they’re not doing this, or that, but the reality is that were playing at such a slow pace, with so few players committing forwards, that there’s not much opportunity for attacking players to thrive.

Jesus output is poor, but many a time last night, we were breaking forwards and absolutely nobody was within thirty yards of him - they weren’t breaking beyond him into the space, they weren’t linking up behind him, he was completely isolated and we were just hoping he would do … something.

Our pattern of play was to get it out wide, pass between our full backs, centre miss, and wide players, then when their defence was set, chuck a cross in and hope. If you’re going to cross against good defensive sides, surely you break quickly and cross early - we’re breaking slowly and crossing late.

We expected something of Nuno in Dyche, and it’s just not there. Nuno was meticulous and everything was about using the defensive structure to allow for explosive counters in the transition. The ten seconds after we won the ball were the most dangerous for the opposition. That was where MGW thrived, too, with the incisive breakout passes that got a devastating counter started.

We’re utilising him in a role now that he’s not suited to, he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. So many of these players look as lost and defeated now as they did under Ange, and if we lose the next two matches, which we very well might, the atmosphere may well return to that level of toxicity again. It’s awful to be getting on another manager’s back, but I just think we’ve made a number of awful appointments and that’s why we’re shit.

Nuno got so much stick at the end of last season, and I probably (definitely) gave him some, too, but our efforts this season have shown me clearly how harsh that criticism was - it’s really hard to win Premier League matches, and all of those supposedly easy games that we narrowly lost, or drew uglily, were similar to ones that we are now comfortably losing. I know there’s this idea now that only a manager like Nuno will suit the team, but without first hiring a good manager, it’s hard to tell.

This is spot on about us at our worst.

It is incredibly frustrating to see us "break" with just one player and literally no one anywhere near him, or only one option

CHO is too slow to come forward effectively and so is MGW.

Everton were always pouring forward with 2, 3, 4 players and whenever we break it is two at the most and they don't risk the ball, recycle. On the odd occasions they do risk it, they make the wrong decision or aren't on the same wavelength

That said, we have to put in context. We were excellent against Man City and unlucky to score only one. We could have had 5 or 6 against Spurs and the same against Leeds. We had plenty of chances against Man Utd and enough chances to win the game against Brighton if the defence didn't let us down.

We have looked particularly toothless against Everton twice and Fulham away- both physical teams, bogey teams for us and teams that scored first and then went for control and counter

We are shite at dealing with that - only against Leeds have we managed to break through it

I actually think SD hit the nail on the head by saying he thinks the players find it difficult to handle the expectation. That would explain why we can be so good against teams we aren’t expected to beat but then follow up with a poor performance against a team we should be beating because in those games there is expectation on them & some of them can’t deal with it
