Seriously though, I do think he is a good manager but I don't see him as a massive improvement on what we already had based on VPs run in last season.

Really hope I am wrong, but him and EM are not exactly a match made in heaven if we hit a difficult patch.

I don’t think any manager and EM would be a match made in heaven. Such is the nature of success and what is required at this level to achieve it.
You just hope it can work for a certain amount of time to achieve said success.
Plenty of clubs around the world find a way whilst accommodating strong characters.

Some would say Pereira would also be a gamble (eg like Wolves second season)

I think you have to get the best manager you can . And I think we have that person .

Big decisions to be made now on sales and recruitment particularly if he plays the 3412. Do you sell Ndoye and Bakwa ? Can They defend and play in the four across the midfield? Who plays in the number 10s ? Jesus and MGW and then what happens to Hutchinson, Cho And Mcatee ?

This is a very fair point - I’ve always been big on this and believe it’s the single most important part of the club strategy. I think I’m just disappointed we’ve done it to the detriment of, in my opinion, a good manager rather than an Ange or Dyche

I have let it simmer and it’s still one of those that if it goes well we could have a great few seasons but if it goes wrong, it could go really wrong.

Definitely a better calibre of manager than we have had for a while so it will be interesting what players we can bring in.

100% agree,

If it goes wrong though it cannot be worse than Ange. It'll be nipped in the bud before the unthinkable could happen once again leading to the search for a saviour lol perhaps the return again of Vitor P if that were to happen.

Only one person could outdo Ange and that's his American Equivalent Jesse Marsch

Its a massive gamble. I don't really think he is anything special to be honest and he wont be given time if he gets off to a bad start.

Absolutely happy to be wrong on this one though.
 
I am excited by Glasner. Rightly or wrongly I file him on a level with Iraola, an elite tier manager with a record of taking ‘lower level’ clubs to new heights.

That said, hopefully we can all agree now that the job Pereira did was pretty incredible? And *if* all he got from the club was an email at 11.58pm, that’s very, very shoddy even in the context of a ruthless footballing a world.

By all accounts a really nice guy who improved morale from top to bottom and gave us some stunning high-scoring results in very high pressure circumstances after an indifferent first few league games.

There was always going to be a question mark about his staying power, and the degree to which he could build a lasting project.

But after Ange and Dyche he was an absolute tonic and I genuinely think we would have gone down had he not come in.

He won 1/3 of his games in the Premier League. Same as Dyche, and no one would say he did a great job?

He got more draws than Dyche

But how is winning 1 league game at home out of 6 a "great job".

He did the job. No question. Great job? Really?

Are you not getting hoodwinked by the smile and feel-good factor?

When we came good under Pereira we looked better than we've looked in decades. For a minute there we were absolutely blasting any team that came near us.
I'll admit that made me smile and feel good, but I don't really feel hoodwinked by that, if anything smiling and feeling good is a good thing and I want to continue to smile and feel good watching Forest.

A half against Fenerbahce (followed by the worst home performance I have seen in a long time)

A half against Burnley

A half against Sunderland

That's fair if it's how you felt

But that's probably how things go with Pereira

Feel good factor brings short term impact. But it's short term

As a season ticket holder I don't feel quite so enamoured. 1 win in 6 home games in the league. Home and away games are not equal to me.

Thanks Vitor for getting us safe, but I didn't personally experience a lot of good times. Mrs Pope's birthday was the day we played Burnley so I never even saw us win a league game under VP

So... Meh

This one feels exciting. Cautiously exciting
