I know what you mean, but I do worry that people overreach just how good Glasner is and how volatile Vitor is. I really enjoyed watching us under VP (couple of bad ones apart) and the players attitude towards him suggests a real chance to kick on

I agree completely

Moody bastard, awkward bastard.

And his League form was always a bit meh, apart from his first few months

That said, he's had a couple of seasons where he has sacked off the league from March because of a cup run

Classy. Makes me a bit sad reading that to be honest. I don’t think he can be blamed for one second for not winning the Europa League - our squad was threadbare that night - and he kept us up with aplomb, including that amazing game at Sunderland and Chelsea away, battering them with our second string.

He’s totally resurrected his career and will get another Premier League job now if he wants one.

Thought you’d be delighted Pope. Don’t you think this could be our Emery moment?

I’m going to be honest, I haven’t studied his record in detail aside from the trophy wins but thought he was pretty indisputably considered an elite manager?

And while there’s been a bit of trouble behind the scenes at Palace they did also shaft him in the transfer window didn’t they?

These are all genuine questions in case that’s not clear. I will be reading up on the guy the minute I get home.

I’m finding myself feeling conflicted because VP had really won me around and I think he deserves so much credit.

But I also think / hope that Glasner *could really take us up a level. And it could well be a boon in the transfer window too.

Every manager change is a risk.

Sometimes, keeping a manager when a really good one is available is a risk

Pretty sure he was Fulham's first choice but turned them down- I think because he was aiming for Milan or one of the Bundesliga clubs. Clearly those didn't work out

Tactically clever, sets up in quite an exciting way, decent football. Not sure I'd say he was shafted in the transfer market. Club didn't have much money to spend and he didn't want them to sell Guehi, he seemed to prefer him to leave for free. Problem is, a club like us or Palace have to sell the best players at some point. They signed a Spanish international winger, so hardly shafted

I disagreed with Pereira's appointment because he never stays anywhere and I didn't think he had it in him to keep us up. I was wrong and admitted that, but it remains that he has never built a side.

Its a risk sacking him or keeping him. We know what we are getting, but it wouldn't be the first time his team collapsed after a summer.

I never believed he would be here at Christmas, and you can be confident that a Glasner wouldn't be available then

I think a lot of PL clubs will look at this one and see it as a coup.

We did VP a little bit dirty here. He had at least deserved a chance to kick on with this group of players. I am not convinced by Glasner and I think he is massively overrated, but I am happy to be proved wrong yet again.

I have a feeling that Vitor knew this might happen. EM needed us to remain in the Premiership, maybe Glasner didn't want to move here before the start of the season without some guarantees like Premiership football, pre season and some of his signings.
But my guess is ( also) that In time Vitor fell in love with us and hoped to remain but deals are deals.
I am sure that EM rewarded him well. The email was just a formality as protocol, he knew what was going to happen, agents talk...Vitor knew that he was going to be replaced, that's why the S Arabia links.

His CV says different

Hes just incredibly difficult, but im guessing Maranakis believes he can handle that, but I doubt anyone can.

I think we have probably just hired our best manager since FC

Calls me disingenuous and then sidesteps the fact that Vitor has won 4 league titles across 3 different countries. Shameful, but I’d expect no less from you
 
Palace fans are deeply upset, not just with Glasner, but they seem to think we are on the verge of hijacking Kamada, who is currently out of contract, believed to be negotiating a new deal.

Did you seriously just list the community shield as a genuine piece of silverware or even an achievement? It's a glorified friendly.
My nephews under 11s team could win the Conference Leaguie.


Seriously though, I do think he is a good manager but I don't see him as a massive improvement on what we already had based on VPs run in last season.

Really hope I am wrong, but him and EM are not exactly a match made in heaven if we hit a difficult patch.
 
I suspect our Europa exit, not the result but the manner of it ultimately didn’t help his cause and then Glasner becoming available sealed it.
Appoint the best manager possible.
On paper I’ve think we’ve done that.
Let’s see.
