It's official. Job done. We're mathematically safe. VP has kept us up with two games to spare.

I think the job he's done in recent weeks has been incredible. But is he the right man for next season?

Thought I'd do a poll to see how everyone's feeling.

If it's a no, who do you think we could realistically bring in in his place?

For what it's worth, of the upper tier managers we know could be available in the summer, personally, I can only really see Marco Silva or Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras) coming here.

I'd love us to go for Sebastian Hoeneß at VFB Stuttgart, but I also doubt we could get him to be honest with no European football on offer.

If after an exhaustive search that actually is Pereira, fine

I think you summed it up way better than I attempted to. Also, we are likely down 2 key player sales, hopefully not 3. So agree with this post wholeheartedly

No such thing mate

Peter Taylor used to tell every player that they were signing them because they thought they were the best they could get for their role, but as soon as they could find someone better they would sign that guy and replace them - because he and Clough would not be doing their jobs if they did anything else.

Maybe not, but that's how I feel.

If the intention from EM was to see how he would do and then decide to stick with him as the permanent boss going forward, well then VP has passed the job interview with flying colours.

Yeah, I think unless an Emery-type level of upgrade is available then probably stick for me?

If we could have gotten an Iraola or a Glasner, I'd make the change. But I think they're far too big for what we can offer now and I'm not totally convinced Silva is enough of an upgrade to warrant the upheaval.

He might be. But it definitely doesn't seem clear-cut.

There's a danger that if we stick we do a Wolves because he didn't do that well with them after keeping them up did he? We do need to stop the merry go round of management and coaching staff though so maybe a summer and a good pre season is just what VP needs.

No one would have kept wolves up. He had his best players sold and hopefully he learnt from any mistakes he may have made
 
Obviously, it depends who wants the job. Concerns around Pereira as anything but a firefighter are fair, but we’ve struggled to attract any good managers, and are seemingly unwilling to pay compensation, either. We obviously like Marco Silva, but he’s still in the frame for the Chelsea job. We’ve been credited with interest in Inigo Perez in the past. Both are good managers and could be long-term projects.
 
If we sacked VP after what hes done I guarantee he would be re appointed first time it goes pear shaped for new guy

Assuming hes available then

You dont lose your job from this position

Hes done great in incredibly difficult curcumstances

MGW equally important in our survival tbf
 
Get the best manager possible, if that’s VP then great. If not, no room for sentiment.
Bournemouth were slated when they let O’Neill go after he kept them up, and they haven’t looked back since.
 
There is no doubt that VP has done a really job both with what he served up on the pitch & the way he has repaired the disconnect between different factions of the fan base who were divided on Dyche, so I think he has earned a crack at it longer term, so Personally I think stick, unless someone world class puts there hand up & says they want the job.

It would come with certain caveats surrounding his role in the recruitment of players process, clearly he needs an input but not control we certainly don't need another Nuno situation on the eve of the season again.

We all want some stability at the club but whether VP is the man to provide that I don't know, his CV would suggest maybe otherwise but he may think he has found his spiritual home here, but he knows EM & I'm sure knows the score

I don't see Silva as an upgrade but might be tempted to sound Iraola out although I would think he will have other suitors.
