Theres an NHS hospice in Notts

Theres a great team of volunteers take care of the gardens to make life nicer for the patients, their families and the staff

I know some of them personally. For years they were waiting for an outside tap to be installed to make watering the plants way more doable

The volunteers had offered to install themselves at zero cost to the NHS

But they werent allowed. And the job had to go through NHS approved contractors who charged the NHS over £5k for one single outside tap to be installed

This was over 5 years ago

Absolutely disgraceful what goes on

I had 2 or 3 football knee injury operations in notts private 35 to 40 years ago ish

It was like staying in a hotel back then

Menus to choose meals from

Nice single rooms

Staff not overstretched

No idea what its like now
Pretty much the same based on my experiences over the last 20 years.

They even fed my visitors if they were told in advance.

My brother had knee ligament surgery 25 years ago whilst playing non league. He fought back and was playing second division back then when he did the other knee, exact same injury and had this one done private.
The private one is a nice thin straight scar, the NHS one looked like it was done with a hatchet and sewn up with a knitting needle.

First time I was in hospital with Sepsis the food was bloody awful, apart from the Ice Cream. I had my friends bring me takeaways in instead. That was at City

Second time (after I had moved to Corby) I was at Kettering General and the food was superb, I didn't want to leave when they discharged me.

Ive got a huge scar. Had an operation they called a Mackintosh back then where they took a big strip of muscle from your thigh (hence the scar about 12 inches long) and used it to replace the torn ligament in the knee

People believe me when i tell them I was attacked by a shark

Cracky ribs and hearty start defibs day Wednesday.

Full on open heart no messing stuff, annoyingly I’ll miss England game but can’t haveveverything

Clearly some NHS horror stories but I think back to maybe 10 years ago, trying to lose weight. Tried 5/2 diet, did longer walks near Gedling. Had a slight nosebleed on the Saturday, thought nothing more.

Tuesday morning 4 am, woke to nose pouring blood. Tried stuffing tissue up nose, kept on coming. Realised I'd die if I kept on losing blood, phoned 999.

Ambulance arrived, was advised to bring wallet with me as I'd need to pay for taxi home. Sat at QMC in pyjamas and dressing gown with a nasal tampon and a bowl to drip blood into.

By 7 am it had stopped, I saw someone who said it didn't need cauterising and take a couple of days off work doing very little.

Hopping out of taxi in dressing gown to get cash for taxi driver from ATM.

Without the NHS, that little emergency could have been much worse.

Never did find what caused the nosebleeds, haven't had one before or since. It put me off trying to lose weight...but now it appears I'm pre-diabetic so need to shed some pounds.

It’s already been changed to next week maybe… but I’ve been told to keep calm and prepare mentally 😂

I’m in kings… and it’s an utter shit show, I dusted my own bed space as in 5 days no cleaner bothered. Luckily yesterday I was chatting to a senior nurse and she saw first hand a cleaner just waltz in and wipe the taps and walk out! Strangely today 2 higher ups came round asking about the cleaning , so something has happened.

I was prepared for tomorrow, and now today it feels like a total gut punch and I’m back to square one of stressing out.

I once told a girl in a club I had a false leg. The foot was real, but the leg was false.
