It's good to occasionally stay up and find dawn has arrived. I meant to go to bed, but I stayed up. The earth turns, and we imagine the sun comes up.

 
So I’m sat in hospital getting checks done then I’ll have my open heart… you couldn’t write some of the shit nhs tries to get away with.

I came in yesterday and they didnt offer me or roommate water/food for 11 hours as just being lazy, but noted down we are both eating/drinking normally.
No blood sugar checks, no blood pressure checks as they couldn’t be bothered.

I kicked off and turns out it’s been happening alot! So some ward nurse went ape at them…

It’s scary how people cut corners in healthcare due to being lazy

It's frightening stuff mate, really is

I was reading about the maternity scandal in Nottingham that went on years. Started reading some of the stories etc

Then realised that our son was born in the middle of it.

And quite a few of the general things they were talking about also happened with us

And my son was born a bit early but physically quite premature because of a medical issue that wasn't picked up, despite my wife being brought in every week for monitoring...

And he ends up with severe learning difficulties and global delay....

That way madness lies so I'm not even thinking about it really. No point. Life is what it is.

But if I were ever in your position I'm not sure I'd trust them, and I know you've already been well and truly shafted even without adding the shenanigans of today

All the best for them popping the bonnet open and having a tinker

What's scary is when you talk to higher ups they say it happens alot…

I said because you allow it… if you don’t maintain standards then you are part of the problem

It's been.like that years.

Some of the stuff I witnessed ten years ago when my.mother was in the city
Nursing is no longer a caring profession, it's just staffed by disinterested foreigners, with the odd diamond who actually worked


The few brits that were working there just stood in a group talking about the upcoming Friday night, whilst bedpans and jugs of piss everywhere.
 
I hear a lot of moans about Ohip here in Ontario.
(Ontario health insurance plan)

I think it’s a great service and I’m sure SR would have a better experience here than on the NHS as a whole.
 
Four years ago this coming October I was admitted to hospital and stayed there for seven weeks. The nights were hell on earth because the majority of staff were agency workers and they hardly spoke a word of English and the level of care was virtually none existent. I hope and pray I never have to go back.
 
It's very frightening stuff isn't it, you certainly have to stand up for yourself in hospitals today or they just ignore you, it's the poor souls that can't do that Themselves & haven't got anyone to do it on their behalf. It really is getting like a third world service now. IMO the whole set up of the NHS needs stripping back & starting again from scratch, but don't suppose there are any politicians brave enough to tackle it.

It’s why I don’t buy into the bollocks about ‘protect our precious NHS’. It’s pedalled as some international beacon of free healthcare but the reality is you pay for it through your national insurance every month and it’s not fit for purpose and people lose their lives through negligence - many loved ones in my case. People say it’s underfunded and I’m sure that’s probably true in some functions, but the reality it’s run poorly. As mentioned above, rip it up and start again.

It is badly managed, and badly staffed - not badly modelled

You will pay through the nose for anything else and ANY kind of private insurance system will ALWAYS, ALWAYS ALWAYS screw you over

The reality is- and a lot of NHS staff will say this- if it's an emergency and your life is in danger, it's one of the best in the world

For anything else, it's shite

But that said, I was watching Breaking Bad with my daughter the other day, and if that was set in the UK there wouldn't even be a series.

No one worries about how they are going to pay for medical treatment here, and no one worries about being financially crippled (via debt or higher insurance premiums) after needing it

We can criticise when the NHS gets things wrong but the reality is that the alternative for a very large part of the population would be zero

First thing I did when I witnessed my mother's care was to get myself and kids into private insurance.

I've been in It a decade and the one time I used it was first class, investigative stuff but I had every test and scan going and results within a week for the potential issue.

It's the first thing I budget for every year., it now at around 180 quid a month for me and 2 grown up kids, the third gets it free at work
