I worked in a chemistry lab analyzing data.

Hardly exhausting work, but the fatigue comes from the illness not the work, otherwise I could try finding another job, but if you're exhausted from just sitting there all day its not a work issue.

My plan is to do things like chess club that will at least have me interacting with other people, while claiming whatever meagre benefits I can.

Maybe find something you could do from home on laptop the odd hour at a time when you feel ok to supplement the benefits?

Hope you feel better soon chap, that sounds awful.

I've only ever had something like this twice, when I was recovering from Covid the first time and when my mental health was in the toilet in late 2021. Was pretty mild to be fair and passed quickly. I cannot imagine being exhausted all the time.

Drop a DM if you ever need to vent or chat bollocks.

My one piece of advice, and its super essential, is to keep your blood pressure LOW at all times.

Unfortunately I wasn't aware of the disease until it was too late and my kidney failed. They do deteriorate but its so much faster if your blood pressure is high.

Get yourself a BP measurement device and take your pressure at least once per day.
You'll quickly figure out what helps keep it low.

Lol, that ship has long sailed mate. High blood pressure is also genetic and I'm on a pretty hefty dose of meds just to keep it in the high average to low-high range
 
Mine isn’t as fancy sounding… just plain old bowel cancer that go ignored in 33 visits in 2 years

Which has led to spreading to liver and also fuckingbup 2 heart valves…

So just awaiting second prrt in June then 6 weeks after will be looking for open heart….then eventually bowel tumour removal and if I survive that then just liver cancer that will need transplant thanks to incompetence of my gp

TBH That's probably what's messing your kidney up... It has to work much harder than usual.
Kidneys are usually fine and nothing to worry about until they hit about 20% functioning or less, but its best to do anything you can to slow the deterioration down while you can.
