Vincent Kompany 2016-17

Alert Team
Pep says Vinny asked to be subbed at half time at the swamp.
Does Pep reveal all that goes on to the media too much? He's openly talked about his tactics a hell of a lot.

All he had to say was Vinny's subbing was a precaution.

See your point JB but at the same time he's probably just trying to ensure the hacks don't jump to their own conclusion and start with their shit stirring like we saw last week.

I'm with B'Dubz on this. If he hadn't said that, they'd be lining up his next club as we speak.
I have no problem with him 'giving away' our tactics. It's not exactly a secret to anyone who's been paying attention anyway. That's what makes his approach so good (normally). Even though the opposition know how we're going to play, it's still extremely difficult to combat. And i include our current dip in form in that. It's not the system, or the fact that the opponent knows how we're going to play that have **cked us up recently. It's been our own lack of familiarity with the system, causing individual and out of character 'blunders'
That familiarity will come, as will better results

He's said that he's promised to be more honest with Pep/Medical staff about how he's feeling. There is no way the Vinnie of old would ask to come off at half time even if he was injured. Hopefully this will be to his benefit in the long run, as he should be able to play his way back to fitness and avoid further setbacks. Just a pity it's taken until now for him to realise/accept this :093:

I recall Leslie Hughes was renowned for pushing the big players back too early during his time with us and was a big believer in cortisone. Vinny played half a season with cortisone regularly injected into a toe.

And the toe of his boot cut off and replaced with tape if I recall correctly.

I think you may be right but Pep has Dr. Juice Cugat who seems to be a miracle healer of sorts. Fingers crossed.

The second string only conceding one, with or without VK4, but I think Vinnie had a bit of fear factor in there too and there maybe more to being 'tired' I agree with BD though it stopped the hacks in their eagerness to malign one of our greatest players and Captain and as it turned out Kolarov in my opinion is a better Centre Back than wing back.

Yes, correct. All those years of pushing could have knacked him.

Possibly, but he also hasn't helped himself by going against both Bobby and Manuel to play for Belgium whilst carrying injuries

I think Vinnie will be replaced. As good a player as he is, as good a leader as he appears to be on the park unless he can get fit and stay fit he is of not much use to City as a player. Delph is just the same, he spent a lot of time injured at Villa and he has been even worse with us. I like Vinnie a lot, but in a results business like football you need to be able to play on a regular basis.

As much of a man as we know and respect VK to be the long list of injuries he has had to put up with, especially the ones in his first games back must undoubtedly have some psychological effect on him even if he himself doesn't realise or want to admit it.
Realistically the man has to keep fit and accident free or he has to go and that would be something I would deeply regret.

Following his withdrawal from the Belgian team shortly before kick off, I fear VK's career is coming to an end.

At the moment it would appear to be more mental than physical, but I think his own confidence in his body is at such a low ebb, it is going to be almost impossible for him to come back for the Blues.

January transfer window is vital.

Funnily enough I will be writing a front page article on this very subject later this morning. I'll give my views within the context.

I fear Seac is correct. A tragedy for him and for us if it does mean the end of his careerr.

Should Vinny Call It A Day?

Professional football clubs are multi-million pound businesses and so can anyone really believe they would stick with a player who is a constant risk of breaking down. Perhaps think of it this way. If your car is costing a fortune to keep on the road, say the engine is forever overheating or the gearbox is crocked then what do you do? You go and buy another one, right?

Reports suggest Vinny earns £120,000 a week. His contract expires in 2019 and so if you were in charge of the clubs purse strings what would you do?

Yes we owe that to Vinnie

If they can find a role for Chappy the ex-kit man then it shoulod not be beyond their wit to find a role for this guy should he call his footballing days to an end
