Vincent Janssen

Personally, I think we need to reset our thinking on Janssen. MP has openly said he wasn't ready and that the Kane injury forced him to play VJ before MP wanted to.

So with that in mind it is worth reviewing why we bought him.......

The Janssen in that video is very different to the one we currently have, but for one reason only... confidence. A lot of pressure was placed on him and is still being placed on him. He was written off months ago and as far as some fans are concerned he should be sold this month.

What Kane hides is how little service he actually gets as a forward in our team. Kane has the ability to create his own situations to score but Janssen doesn't possess the same trait. If Janssen and N'Koudou were to play more often together I think we'd see a shift in fortune.

Wont be anywhere near the fitness levels needed not just for the prem but for a poch team until he has been on one of Poch's preseason fitness camps. Clearly a yard off the pace.

His hold up play is good, and he brings those around him into games. I'm happy for him to keep adapting to his surroundings and new play style. He is only 22 and when he is up to speed i'm sure he'll be a very useful addition to the squad.

While i'm never 100% confident he will score when he plays instead of Kane (at the moment), I'm confident we will at least keep our shape, unlike when other options lead the line.

As i said in the match thread. Had he had an actual play maker running between the banks of aston villa, he would have had a far better game.

I think had he stayed on when Deleting and Nkoudu came on it may have helped him. First half as a team we were disjointed and he only had loose balls and scraps to try and make something out of. But that isn't his game.

Clearly the guy knows where the net is and I would like to think eventually he will prove it here.

Should he go on loan for a month? To say Bournemouth or Boro where they try to play football, as long as he was going to get good game time.

It is easy to imagine his confidence being low and thinking, with some justification, that he has to score in the (often) not too many minutes he gets.

. Like dick caan said its a shame he was playing in a system that didnt suit a few players. I would like to see him in this system we are currently playing to see if he gets any better. His only problem is kane will never be dropped from a PL game unless he gets injured and we dont want that ever again lol.

.

Alfonso alves knew where the net was when he was in the dutch league and made boro shell out 20m for him. As we have seen so many times before, some players can't step up in class. I hope janssen does but from what I've seen he has a long way to go.

I remember some French player really struggling to score his 1st Arse goal.... took him ages to adjust.

did alright in the end I think.... plenty of va va voom ultimately.

Great video but I have never seen him shoot at goal with us. He always seems to have his back to the goal and every time he gets the ball he taps it back to whoever passed it to him. Would love to see him play like the video shows he can

He scored 26 goals in his first season lol. Took him about 8 games to get going and the rest is history. One of the very best to grace the league.

Janssen has had played 15 games and one goal to go with it. He has a lot to do. He won't get much game time which will not help him.

As I said when shortly after he started; he wasn't ready and we were forced to buy him a season before we wanted to..

He still has it in him to improve, and I'll bet he does.

Sissoko on the other hand..

If we are going to keep him, and he is our main option for back up, then we have to play to his strength's.

The highlights show he scores most of his goals in the area.

As zzz mentions, if he had a play maker behind him, and he was being feed balls, and getting on the end of crosses, he would score some goals.

He did have a good chance early in the second half but he snatched his shot and it went too close to the keeper. The pressure is affecting his composure. He could have curled it into top corner or hit it low and across the keeper but he rushed it. I think he had more time than he thought. Then it all went wrong for him . He kept being hustled off the ball and he got the hook. It was painful to watch and I felt sorry for him.

I hope he gets some support and he makes it but I have my doubts.

“Yes it’s true that he’s struggling,” Pochettino said.

“But it’s difficult for strikers. Look again at the game against Chelsea, both strikers struggled, Diego Costa and Harry Kane, when you don’t have space to move and run it’s always difficult.

“Second half he started better. He found better space to play but OK it was a moment we decided to include Dele Alli on the pitch but it was always tough not only not only for him.

“But he’s very young, it’s different league, he needs to adapt his game and to work hard and not be frustrated from that performance.

“We are a staff that push the players a lot and we will push him to try to get the level that the team need from him.”

Seems like Poch hasn't given up on him yet.

If Janssen gets 7-10 goals during the rest of this season he will be on the way to making it.

For that to happen, he’ll need to demonstrate better control and show the technique required to score, from other than the penalty spot. I remember a shocking miss against CP early in the season when a trainee with half a technique would have scored with his eyes closed. Janssen’s effort ended up so far off the target it was embarrassing. Four months later he still hasn’t scored from open play and doesn’t look likely to anytime soon.

he needs a yoga class 3 times a week to calm him down abit... and no red meat in his diet.

I'd recommend tofu.... and bean-sprouts too.

Red Bull gravy is more in order.

Needs to improve his match fitness drastically. Then maybe he'll deserve to be Kane's backup. I am sceptical.
