Villa v Burton Albion Match Thread

Just seen on Facebook, they are going to revive the old tradition of ringing the bells in the church if we win? I look forward to hearing them hopefully. Same team who started at SUFC but Axel in for Hourihane. 2 - 0 Villa.

I’m still wary - after all, I’m a Villan.
These games have a habit of biting us in the backside BUT it’s one we should win.

I think a good barometer is to look at us through the eyes of other teams. Who would want to play against us at the moment in this league - not many.

2 homes games against relegation threatened small teams need to be six points really.
Keep the pressure on before a couple of tougher games.

Get Jedi back in and up to speed

plenty of hard work still to do. no complacency treat - them as if they were top of the table and really have a go. big expectant crowd, just hope the players use it to inspire not freeze due to the undoubted weight of an anticipated home win. hope it rains goals at the burton end, big score win and improved goal difference, let this division know we mean business - we are aston villa

Hopefully, this will not turn out to be a banana skin.
But I expect a win.

Three points Saturday would be great because you never know which way the following Sunday against that other lot from Small Heath is going to go.
2-0 but hard fought.

I know football don't work this way, but christ, if we don't win this one, the team need putting up against the back of the Trinity Road stand and shot !

Win, and you would hope a very healthy swing in the goal difference, but win at least.

Will have to leave before the end on Saturday as I am supposed to be at work at 6 (and work 2 1/2 hours away) so calling in a favour with a mate. It better be well over by the 85th minute !

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Aston Villa and Burton Albion this Saturday.

Well after witnessing one of the most incompetent refereeing performances of all time on Tuesday by our friend Jeremy , then I am not holding out much hope for anything better on Saturday.

Seriously , the standard of refereeing has reached an all time low in my humble , and even now they are getting video assistance , they still can't get it right.

We cannot be complacent about this game . Team picks itself really , but the bench selection will be interesting

Yes, there's nothing we can do now the transfer window has slammed shut but I feel confident with what we have and the additions Bruce has made.... under the circumstances.

So Saturday is the start of the long run-in. We need to earn the right to all points so we can't afford to take our foot off the gas.

That said, I expect a tough match but 3 points.
