I was hoping to get to this game as we're currently down the road in Chorley. Alas, I'm otherwise engaged until 6.30pm and the guy I'd hoped would be giving me a lift can't do it now.
So, we'll have to see if something else turns up, otherwise I'll have to think about going and nursing a Vimto in a local hostelry, wall to wall with PNE fans, no doubt (although there is some edge between Chorley FC and the Invincibles and there is also a local team called Euxton Villa...)
Anyway, we drew yesterday in what seems to have been an unconvincing performance and Preston lost narrowly to Brentford.
This has draw written all over it.

I think it all depends on how Bruce approches the match. Does he do the same as yesterday at the sty, playing it cautious or does he go on the attack?

I'd chose the latter as Preston will have a patched up back-line as they have a number of defenders definately out.

There's three points in the offering here if Bruce will go for it.

Would put Jedinak in instead of Whelan do not think you can play both as they are both slow.
Davis in instead of Onamah up front assuming Kodjia is ok.

This fixture last season for me was in the top three of terrible performances and a certain Mr Westward being bullied off the ball for one of their goals. The other two was Bristol and Brentford so we can surely only improve our performance this time around and if Sunderland give them a game then surely we should really be thinking of winning this one.

15 points available in November. What's acceptable?

Reckon W3 D1 L1, 10 points, absolute minimum. Should be aiming for at least 12 or 13.

These are all teams we can beat. Preston and Wednesday could be fairly close but the other three we really should beat.

Anyone miss Westwood ?

Lol.

I thought that yesterday when Terry nearly scored from Hourihanes free kick.

We certainly don't miss those floaty efforts Westwood used to deliver and we look dangerous from set pieces now.

Yeah I didn't hate Westward and some of the stick he received I felt really sorry for him at times because he seemed like a good lad who always tried his hardest. But unfortunately for him and us his best just wasn't good enough and far to lightweight typified by that goal at Preston last season but good luck to him I'm just glad our hopes aren't pinned on him anymore

Yes anyway back to the game with Kodjia out Davis has to play and I reckon Onamah will play just off him.

Looking forward to this I am going so don't want my day off work to be in vain.

Yeah i'm looking forward to this one I do love these old Northern grounds charm, character and nostalgia in abundance as I hate these new character less stadiums.Obviously Davies is a certainty to start with Kodg out and hopefully this time we can nullify Johnson who destroyed us last season.

I want to see a nice compact 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 for this as Kodija is injured.
Jonstone
Hutton Chester Terry Taylor
Jedi Whelan Onomah ( 2 from 3 )
Elmo Hourihane Albert
Davis

1 - 0 to the good guys.

With Preston's defensive problems I think we should be bold and go on the attack. With Kodjia out I'd like to see Hogan given an extended run; why else did Bruce buy him? I'd go for:

Johnstone
Hutton Chester Terry Taylor
Elmo Jedi Hourihane Adomah
Davis Hogan

If we go more defensive it would let their defence off the hook and give them a chance to attack.

An alternative would be De Laet at RB and Hutton at LB, even more attacking.

Has Hutton done enough to keep his place? You can't fault his commitment but would Taylor be the better choice?

Maybe I'm missing something relying on watching the games on telly when they are shown and the official highlights when they aren't, but I'm still on the fence about Onomah.

For me, if you are playing in the hole, you have to be creating and/or scoring every game.

Personally I'd play Davies and Hogan up front with O'Hare on the bench.

Speaking of strikers, what's happening with RHM?

I'd leave Hutton in there Taylor isn't really very good is he , unless I've missed something.

No, it's not just you. I'm not that impressed, I think he's a bit overrated at the moment. There is talent there for sure, but there's too much inconsistency at the moment for him to even think he'd have a pop at a Spurs place next season. He wasn't fit coming into the season - although not the only one - since then he's had one standout game along with a few good ones and a few unmemorable ones.

Perhaps I'm being harsh on him but he needs to quickly learn that not all games will be ones with lots of time and space to prance on the ball such as yesterday. Those games you need play a different style, even if it does involve more often than not bringing the ball down from 30 feet.
