Manchester City Football Club can confirm that Patrick Vieira has been appointed as Head Coach of New York City Football Club.

He has signed a three-year contract with the Club and takes up his role on 1 January 2016.

Week it Israel to see him being kept inside the City "family" - potentially still being groomed for MCFC in due course.

Congratulation ps and good luck Patrick

This is another step in PV's management progress, a class or two up the ladder and I am sure the Board will be keeping him in the family as a future Manager at City should he prove to have the ability.

I just wonder if the noises from Arsenal about taking him back in some capacity has brought on this appointment.

NYC had a very disappointing season with some well below average footballers. Can PV turn it around, will he sign some players who are not on their last pay packet but some players who have talent and some years to go under their belt.

I wish him well in the Big Apple, and hope he can do a fine jib in his first big role as a manager.

I fully expect a lot of our more promising EDS lads to spend a few months in the Big Apple now that paddy V is there

Maybe they are seeing whether Paddy can cut it as a manager and maybe also ship out some of the kids to work under his wing.

Then again, maybe they are getting somebody in to the EDS who knows what he's doing and moving Paddy upstairs or just somewhere safe where his profile and status can be marketed without him doing any damage and whilst also massaging his ego ?

Only time will tell.

Interesting podcast on @City_Watch with Graham Hunter being interviewed, according to him if Pellegrini was to have been given the shove last summer then appointing Vieira as first team manager would've been given serious consideration, he reckons Txiki is a huge admirer of Paddy.
