Video Adverts

Whenever I go onto the home page I cant see what I actually want to see for the amount of video's that pop up. Are they meant to be there or is it just me that this it happening to?

I wanted a sneaky look on the front page at work and has sky sports advert and transformers blasting out lol.

there aren't five, there is one within an article capped at 2 per 24 hours.

There is a mute on it dude, plus if you scroll down it freezes it.

Sadly it is the future online, not just on Vital. Conventional adverts are adapting and many are going.

when I say 5 I mean 5 adverts in one go... 2 vids and then some pop up adverts. I'll take a photo next time and post it.

I don't need a photo mate, I know exactly what we are displaying. Most are capped, all are necessary, it's been tough and we need to make hay whilst the sun shines.

No way round it.

i know adverts make money and pay the bills mate and that's fine - i just thought that a few popping up over what i was reading was a bit strange and bought it to your attention in case there was a problem. If that's how its meant to be then its fine - i'll mute the buggers :35:

The one is interesting, as said, capped and freezes if you scroll. I think these will grow and grow.

I wish the old types were still what advertisers wanted but they want the big fecking things now and ones like the tall thing on the right side will die like the old button adverts did years back.

I enjoy them as I feel important that out of the hundred thousands that visit Vital Villa the adverts pick me to talk to!

The funding is needed obviously, but these things seem to invade your lives more and more, with ads playing before you can watch some youtube clips, pop ups here there and everywhere, expanding banners and video clips which burst into life from nowhere forcing those in work to have their volumes permanently muted, and those at home to be frowned at by those enjoying some peace and quiet.

I decided some time ago that I would not deal with or purchase any items from those who feel the need to FORCE their ads upon me, If I'm interested in something I will click on an ad, congrats to the marketers, with this customer you have had the opposite effect, you can take your hard sell and shovel it! I would hope I'm not the only one.

Hung is users become immune to what becomes the norm.

Some of the ads are very clever formats, only take a click to reduce etc.

But yes, they do seem to be everywhere. However, after years of recession with advertising totally falling off a cliff, even though I would love none, or at least less, we have to think of the business and to be honest, ourselves (two directors, we've been stretched to breaking point numerous times just keeping afloat) ... So we will as said earlier make hay now to pay ourselves back.

The balance is if it drives users away, but then go on most sites now, some of the paper sites are even worse, and sites are loaded. Same pressures and issues I'm sure. We simply can't slash overheads any further, we've become so lean and learned a load through the recession (not fully gone yet I might add) but some of the lessons I'd rather still be in ignorance of!!

Don't get me wrong Fear, I follow the TuBBz mantra of clicking away for the good of this site, as do many others I would guess, but as you say, it's all over the place, it's the injection of images and words into the subconscious to influence purchases, it works! I just won't encourage the buggers by buying their products because of this.

Juan, if you bought more then they might feel they don't need to advertise :21:
