VAR

Can var give a penalty and has var gave penalty when the referee hasn't since var started in the prem or are the refs just backing each other up no matter what.

Friend knew exactly what he was doing. By blowing quickly for "simulation" VAR couldn't review a possible penalty or goal-scored. That's the horrible, scary, corrupt, bulls**t part - he knew EXACTLY what he was doing!

Old pals act in operation, it needs scrapping asap.

It's about as much use as asking another Doctor for a second opinion, they are another group who never make mistakes.

This particular clown had an agenda against Jack from the start, several times Jack was fouled and he never even gave a foul but when a Villa player did the same he not only gave a foul but booked the Villa players!

He seriously needs looking at and so does VAR.

They can shove it up their arse for me, or at least get people looking at it who are neutral.
At least Cricket umpires have the balls to overturn the on-field umpire so it can work if you have the right people calling it

The only thing is with cricket is that they have technology to track the path of the ball and the third umpires can't ignore that if the ball is shown to be missing the stumps.

And therein lies the problem sirdennis the whole system is still subjective when it comes to anything other than offside, or the new rules for handball, changed purely to accomodate VAR, and they cant even get that right.

It seems VAR is great for finding a reason to disallow a goal but not so good at giving a reason to allow one.
Great at ruining attacking intent too. It should be a positive thing, there to assist refs, not to justify their bad decisions.

Do they not also show it on the big screen or it just on Sky, I've heard the crowd start cheering before the final result goes up?

A team can also review in hockey. If it fails they lose their review. Why has football, the beautiful game, made such a fπ¢k up of it. That's it, it's run by a bunch of greedy, self promoting, loathsome toads.

Mind you, the lack of respect players have shown for the officials over the years has probably dissuaded the good ones from making it up the greasy pole. We end up with the wrong uns. So probably the players own fault ultimately. :loser:

Merd. 150 years of having rules within football and they still haven't decided what constitutes a handball . It's not a surprise VAR is a cluster.

The way I always understood it was, it had to be a deliberate hand towards the ball you were always allowed to protect you face and nuts . Seems to have suddenly changed for no reason

It hasnt changed for no reason 57. It has changed specifically to accomodate VAR. The panel can now look at it and if the ball touches or hits the hand or arm by any means it is hand ball. However they are already breaking their own guide lines as we have seen in a number of games so far this season. As you say a cluster.

Listened to a bit of Tim Sherwood and Andy Townsend last night......never going to get that hour back am I?

I think everything could be simplified very quickly, a penalty should only be given if it is a clear goal scoring opportunity or dangerous play. All this "drawing a foul" bollocks is everything that is wrong with the game IMHO.

Take a look at the Ashes umpiring recently where obvious errors were made. The two concerned have been dropped from officiating as a result - that is only fair and proper.
What VAR needs now is for the system to include the opportunity for teams to appeal a set number of decisions per game or half via the captain. The time limit like in cricket should apply and this would make the whole situation a much fairer for all concerned. Yesterday, Jack would have appealed and the goal would have been given.
VAR still needs a load of tweaks and just like cricket in the early days of technology, it will take a few years to get it right
No claret and blue, the goal could not have stood as Mr Friend claims to have blown his whistle before Lansbury netted. Perhaps Mr Friend will sue Gary Lineker for defamation of character as Lineker could not understand at what point Mr Friend blew his whistle.
