With the Video Assistant Referee system being trialled in the FA Cup this season, it has already made a few appearances and with some applauding its use, it does have its detractors.

The simple way around this is to show on the big screens what the VAR and referee are seeing. This happens in cricket, tennis, rugby, NFL - the fans are as involved, as they should be. Opinions would still be divided, but that's nothing new. Virtually all clubs in the the top two divisions (and plenty lower down) have the screens.

I think VAR will be good in the long run. Obviously it's early days at the moment. It has to be worked on and it's use has to be defined clearly, but it will improve.

It works in tennis, cricket and rugby union so give it time I say.

Get rid. Football is about emotions, debate, disagreements, feeling lucky, feeling aggrieved, feeling angry, feeling relieved. Take these emotions away and it just becomes football, which can often be pretty dull if you have no feelings either way for the teams you are watching.

Easy way to sort offside , forget var it will still not get it all right, just forget offside. Danny Blsnchflower said it was outdated in the 60’s and he was right and it’s even more outdated now the way the game is played.

Use var for shirt tugging , diving , cheating. But offside ....forget it.

The linesmen would be able to help the ref police the above and the game in general , rather then the impossible job of looking where the ball is played at the same time as looking at the player he thinks is receiving the ball. Every one knows they just guess. :19:
